I have noticed something that distinctly began since I started HCl supplementation. When I start to eat now, my nose begins to run. I first thought it was due to a cold room, even possibly some allergic reaction to the foods. Now, after having this happen with snacks on grapes as well as dinner of salmon, I'm fairly certain that it isn't an allergic reaction. Oddly, since I started using the HCl near the end of my dinner vs. at the beginning, this symptom doesn't occur very often. To clarify, my nose would run when I ate, even if I didn't use the HCl at that time.
Now, I know that the presence of HCl stimulates the release of histamine. I'm just trying to understand what processes may be occurring when this happens, and if it is a good thing or not. It doesn't bother me, as it puts me in the mind of hiking, a time when I also usually get a slight runny nose. But it is a cleansing feeling, and doesn't last very long. It also doesn't last long when I'm eating.
I do wonder if this reaction may mean that my own stomach is beginning to produce more HCl, and other gastric juices more normally, and if this reaction is a sign of that success. If anyone is familiar with this process, please let me know what you think.
