I have had both the copper and now the Mirena IUD over the last 2 years. Although I am a big believer in the IUD method and love the convenience, the strings are literally cutting my husband during sex. I have had them trimmed 2 times already, but they feel as thick and firm as fishing wire. As you can imagine, this has affected our sexual activity and my husband is really freaked out about how sharp they feel to him. My OB/GYN said she has never heard of this, so I am looking for advice or suggestions on other IUDs that don't have wire like strings. Note: the copper IUD strings were better and softer, like tampon strings, but it didn't agree with my body (heavy bleeding, cramping). Any suggestions? Thanks
