i know, i know - its disgusting and gross.
i'm trying to quit smoking remember!
but all these days without cigarettes has left one thing on my mind, cigarettes!!!
so i'm wondering - does anyone on here smoke cigarettes while fasting? i am just asking that question and what your experience was like with it.
you can remain anonymous if you want!!
i've been a smoker over 20 years, so i know the dangers,health risks etc. - you don't have to tellme that - that's why i'm quitting.
just curious to see if any fasters out there ever smoked wile fasting, and what that experience might have been like.

This is a reply to # 700,197Not going to lecture, I promise. I am an ex smoker myself.
1. The idea of fasting is to detoxify your body, to become more healthy. So obviously that would negate that whole point.
2. You will get very light headed and nautious from smoking while fasting. Possibly worse.
Think of it this way: There is going to be nothing coming into your body except for nicotine, which means that it will have that much more affect on you.
Have you ever drank on an empty stomach? It is like that times 100.
So just please think it over before doing something like that. One or the other, not both at the same time.

i quit smoking last week... haven't had one since last friday - and am now beginning my fast, full water to begin tomorrow.
just wondering through if there were any people that DID smoke while fasting.
i'm gonna go ahead full speed full throttle to infinity and beyond! haha

This is a reply to # 700,199Yea I did for years. I ate raw, drank water,excersized and everything else I could possibly do to try and take care of myself. But I couldn't quite smoking...I just passed the 1 1/2 year mark as a nonsmoker. To make things harder I was a closet smoker for many of those years. I am so greatful for today. But the truth is we are all doing the best we can..and that was the best I could back then.

Bad me I know, I have been smoking while fasting. I am on my 4th day and I just can't seem to break the smoking habit just yet.
I have been moking for 15 years....I neeeeeed my smokes.
I am giving up food for this and thought that was enough.
I sure hope that i didn't offend anyone.
I will stop though, but damn....it's so hard.

Ivana, I smoked for over 30 years as I said I fasted lot and still smoked. 2 suggestions #1 DON"T be so hard on yourself you are NOT a bad person. You are doing the best you can to take care of yourself today. The more you are able to love yourself the sooner you will be able to quite. #2 Be conscious when you smoke notice how it feels in your body without judging yourself. I didn't quite smoking while fasting. I quite using an affirmation "I am excited about becoming a non-smoker". Looking into day 5 today on my water fast, I feel absolutely terrible.
I am weak, tired, my heart is beating fast, I feel like I got hit with a bug of somekind.
I had a little bit of juice with my water, but I still ache and my lower back is killing me.
Sorry about the long whine, but had to get it out there.

this is a forum and it's important that we discuss life experiences on it to help each other out, i think. anyone can research and find out that it's bad for you. haha i think i've known that the entire time i've smoked!!

Hi Sally, & whomever... This Post was made years ago, yet from my experience what I would do depending on how long my Fast was. I would still smoke, BUT I would smoke MUCH LESS to where I Know It would be a SACRAFICE.... If U Smoke about 15cigs a Different a day, try 5cigs a day while on the Fast... That's for the Ones That Insist on Smoking... I don't want to Offend anyone either, But The Word Says Confess Your Sins One Too Another so That We Know What To Pray.... Our Spirit Will Become Stronger if we Don't Smoke AT ALL.... I'm Bout to Start My Daniel Fast, I Pray that This Sacrafice is Better Than The Last Danile Fast... Love Eveyone. be Blessed

This is a reply to # 700,211Ivana, Hang in there...congrats on the 5 days of water. I have never done a Water Fast I juice with green juices instead. If it gets too tough for you, could you drink Celery and cucumber juice. Are they available where you are? do you have a juicer? This juice is SO alkalizing and I believe that it would do more for you than the water. Smoking makes the body very acidic, anyway it worked for me and I believe it will help bring balance and you will cleanse. If your wanting to loose weight you'll loose just as much this way. If you should decide to try this drink, drink as much of it as you can! Edie

well, I have only smoked five days out of the past 45... wich is okay... I suppose. but I know that tricky nicodemon is just trying to lure me back in. he keeps saying.... aw c'mon jussst one!!! but you know, that "just one" inevitably leads to a full blown addiction again....Ive already learned this lesson. (once or twice) and I need to nip this in the bud.
That is why I am going to start this fast tomorrow...I have a feeling that the cleansing of the body makes you so much more sensitive... to sugar, alcohol, and nicotine...while you are cleansing toxins seem almost unbearable.(as far as I recall.... Ive only done a short fast once before...)
I want so much to be free of this nasty habbit once, and for all....what was your experience? did you not get queasy around smoke- while you were cleansing?

This is a reply to # 700,243Yes I did get quessy while smoking when fasting. But the addicition always seemed to win until I started the positive affirmations. Over and over again our mind is VERY powerful it can tell you to lite up and it can tell you to walk away. Being kind... "I am excited about becoming a non smoker" and then when I quit,I kept saying "I am excited about being a nonsmoker" every time I wanted one.

This is a reply to # 700,198While I know it sort of doesn't make sense I am currently fasting while smoking. When I fasted for 3 days on water I found that by the end of the 3rd day I was smoking very little and felt terrible when I did. I have read, in my research, that fasting helps alleviate the addiction. I plan to quit smoking during the fast, once it becomes uncomfortable, and I will let you know if it makes it easier at all.

What I can tell you is that if you are thinking about smoking it's because your body is detoxing the cigarettes out of your body that why you are craving cigarettes. I must say that I'm proud of you because you haven't smoke and I hope you don't give in. I know you are thinking how can I help you out and I'm still smoking?That's because I have smoked my last NEWPORT SHORT IN A BOX TODAY and I think that it would defeat the purpose of what we are trying to accomplish.
