I have done very long juice fasting, both the
Master-Cleanse and fruits/veggies, with the supervision of my excellent naturopath/nutritionist/iridologist/RN/colonic therapist. I would not recommend a very long (over ten day) fast unsupervised. On many occasions I was glad to have her expert advice--for example when I passed a small kidney calcification on day 18 of that 60 day fast... without her I would surely have panicked and ended up at the ER--with her help I was able to fast through with homeopathic/herbal support. Also, two months after that long fast I proceeded to lose hair by the handsful! She explained the metabolic processes that caused this, and that it would grow back (it did)... but again, without her I would have definitely been freaked.
Unsupervised, I would suggest a series of shorter fasts. This summer I did five ten day fasts with cleansing diet between, with excellent results and MUCH easier to break (I was still breaking that long fast six months later!) and far easier on the body.
I have done both the
Master-Cleanse and juice fasting and appreciate them both. The
Master-Cleanse is far simpler--juicing requires shopping, purifying, prepping and juicing--careful storage for short periods etc. BUT the effort is well worth it to me for the extra nutritional support.
You can continue your daily routine with either method, which give you plenty of support. DO keep your colon very clean every day you fast!
I have posted lots of info on juice fasting on this forum, and am on the
MC Forum a lot as well. Please feel free to browse through my posts for info on cleansing diet,
Colon Cleanse routines etc. and let me know if I can help you in any way.
Best,
