Sorry to hear about your struggle with ridding yourself of acne. It's such a horrible thing to be inflicted with and can be devestating to your physical and mental wellbeing. I too am trying to clear up my skin and even though my breakouts are pretty minor, never more than a handful of pimples at a time, they destroy my self confidence and result in me spending days shut away in my bedroom.
You say you're too scared to try the liver flushes? I seriously urge you to have a go. They really aren't that bad atall (following Dr.
Hulda Clark e's method). The liver is the main organ for processing all the toxins that accumulate in our bodies and when it becomes overwhelmed by junk the toxins are released by the skin instead, resulting in spots.
Liver Flushes will aid in clearing out the liver and a healthier liver will function more efficiently and result in less rubbish being expelled through he skin. I have just done my 5th flush and each one sems to be improving the tone and elasticity of my skin, so well worth embarking on! Check out the
Liver Flush Forum for advice...
And please stop the accutane! It was hailed a wonder drug for
Acne sufferers when it was released in the early 80's and though initial results are clear skin, the toxins from this 'drug' overwhelm the body resulting in further outbreaks, possibly more severe than the first. It has also been linked to joint problems and birth defects when pregnant women use the drug as well as mental illness. It acts by causing the sebaceous glands to 'dry-up' so sebum production ceases and hence the environment for
Acne bacteria to grow in is removed. This results in seriously dry skin and once the medication is stopped and the glands function normally again the
Acne is allowed to return. So taking accutane really gets you no-where in the long term.
On top of this, I have reverted to a very basic skin-care regime, washing only with water in the mornings and using a home-made wash of lemon oil, bergamot oil, rose water and vodka in the evenings. I figured all the chemical-laden products from the shops were probably doing more harm than good. Honey is also a great cleanser with antibacterial qualities and using it as a face mask a few times a week will really soften up your skin. Putting a little ground cinnamon with it also makes a gentle exfoliator, and best not to use anything rougher to exfoliate as acne-prone skin is very sensitive and excessive rubbing of the skin can lead to more break-outs. I also love oatmeal face masks, mixed with anything from egg-white, aloe vera or cucumber pulp, to sooth dry or sore skin. Experiment!
Sorry I've gone on a bit! I just hope some of this can be of help to you. With 2 months until your wedding you've plenty of time to clear up your skin without the need for any medication. Limit wheat/dairy/sugar intake for a few weeks and see if there's improvement. And plenty of water, with freshly squeezed lemon juice is great...I drink about 3-4 litres a day.
Good luck and try not to stress about it (another trigger for the horrible acne)...you will look beautiful on your wedding day no matter what!
