I started doing a daily P&B shake in November. After a week, my stools became very regular and well-formed. I increased to 2 shakes a few days before Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, I started getting urgent diarrhea several times a day with cramping, pain, nausea and chills. This has continued ever since, now about 5-6 weeks.
I also noticed a patch of ezcema developed under my left eye that I never had before. I also had two small ezcema patches, one on either hip. I had this about 2 years ago but got rid of it. I originally thought it was candida but now think it is ezcema and possibly related to vitamin/mineral deficiencies. I immediately stopped the P&B shakes when I first got the diarrhea, and started drinking herbal infusions (nettle, mullein) and chicken/vegetable broths to make sure I was getting nutrients.
I have a history of Crohn's disease but was managing it with diet, not medication. I also have Environmental Illness/Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, mercury/arsenic toxicity, fatigue/burned out adrenals. I was treated for giardia in '00. (I did extensive traveling in the Middle East and Southeast Asia from '98-'00.)
What could have happened to cause this urgent, consistent diarrhea? One guess is that the cleanse uncovered some
parasites that became more "active". Is this possible? Another guess is that the psyllium seed powder irritated my colon and caused inflammation, possibly re-activating the Crohns. The only thing is, I don't have the pain that I had with Crohns previously. The only pain is discomfort as the stool or gas moves through the intestine right before I have to go to the bathroom.
I got a CDSA test from Great Smokies that showed no parasites, no worms, low yeast, good beneficial bacteria and no pathogens. Should I be considering doing the
parasite cleanse anyway? I am concerned about irritating my colon further. Any help greatly appreciated!!!
