In a previous post of yours about Raymonds wifes pot belly shrinking, you spoke as though you knew something about this stuff. I am new here and have never heard about this therapy before and I hope that my asking a few questions that you may find ridiculous does not hinder your life in any way. I have gone over some of the posts and I'm a little concerned that the new people who come upon your site are being chased away by some of th e intensity and sensitivity of some of the long time posters. As those who come to the site could face some others who are probably a little unsure of how their opinions will be accepted by those who are more secure in their postings. It seems that some of these people post something that the Geezers (meant in fun) take a little too personally and then all of a sudden a whole controversy starts in which their in the middle of. They suddenly regret, but find no sympathy and retreat only to desire that they could have found a non-controversial position. First time posters just aren't savvy to the social atmosphere in the sites and most often stumble. I think it's only fair to give them a place to orient them to the conditions involved. Also it would be a good filter to find troll's as they like the easy bait first. It's just that, like me, we're anxious to get in to the message. But the responses are somtimes unexpected.

This is a reply to # 617,648The main reason I can think of to use flannel is that it is absorbant, holds heat well, and is natural material. I see no reason why a diaper wouldn't work every bit as well. In some ways it would be even easier, especially the already made kind-no folding. I am new to this therapy, but I say try the diaper. I'm all for doing things easily and inexpensively. Hope this wil help more than the sarcasm did.- I agree with hopinso... southern belle

Try the diaper and then let us know what you think. You know, I don't even think I have any flannel myself, but then again, I wouldn't have a diaper either. So, I can't try anything!

Southern belle, thank you for your kind response. I will let you know how the diaper works. If the diaper does work then I can't see any reason why any 100% cotton or wool cloth wouldn't work. I was really glad to find curezone and I have been introduced to many cleansing techniques that I didn't know about. I love learning all this new stuff! Thanks again!

The reason I was asking is because on several web sites that tell about CO packs, flannel was always mentioned and I was wondering if that specific material had something to do with removing toxins. This is a reply to # 617,661I have read Edgar Cayce for many years. He emphasized flannel, but I have no idea why. I have found both cotton and wool flannel at local health food stores that sell castor oil. I copied a segment of one of Edgar Cayce 's reading about flanne:
(Q) Would osteopathic treatments help her?
(A) The massage with the Mutton Tallow compound, that should be given by the mother or one close to the body, will be as helpful as the osteopath at the present time. Later this may be a help. This combination is massaged into the body, you see, and also the << flannel>> is saturated with same - but be sure it is << flannel>> .
You can see by the last sentence that he said to be sure it is flannel.
I, too, am so thankful that I found Cure Zone.

I am going to try it with the diaper tonight as I will have to travel a distance to Orlando to find a health food store or fabric store for the flannel. This is a reply to # 617,665I have experimented with a wheat bag and seems to do the trick.
I made my own wheat bag and I left a small hole in it so i can also put the castor oil in it. It slowly covers the wheat bag and stays warm too. Plus I put the oil on my body. It slowly permeates the material which is flannel and keeps warm for a long time.

Thank you grog, That's the kind of info I was looking for. I appologise for snapping at you yesterday. I suppose wool would be better than cotton because it is a warmer material. Do you know if it needs to be white because I think I read something that said it shouldn't be died material.

This is a reply to # 617,664To be honest, I would not know how to reconize flannel. The ones that I have seen in health food stores (in cellophane) looks like diaper material. It could very easily be the same. I simply had an old wool blanket that was not being used, so I cut it up into many small pieces. I would think the diaper would be just fine. Hope you will share with us your results.

This is a reply to # 617,669Thanks Hanna. That was the best advice yet. I buy the disposable flannel packs from The Heritage Store and/or Baar at: www.baar.com. The disposables will make your life a lot easier. Otherwise, set-up can be a bit tedious and messy. You can get a dozen or more uses out of each pack and they can be easily stored for the next time. Just wrap it in a plastic bag, like your groceries come in, until you need it again. Flannel is very absorbent, holds both the oil and the heat within the fabric, and won't dry out between uses. But I don't see any reason why soft, cotton diapers won't suffice until you can get some flannel.

Natural, unbleached flannel would of course be the very best thing that you could use - no dyes or chemicals. Flannel is used for castor oil packs for 2 reasons - heat retention, and the nappy, almost fuzzy texture of the fabric grabs and holds oil better than a smooth fabric would, and more of it. Another thing I've noticed is that the flannel seems to cling to my skin better. Not to say that you couldn't use a diaper - sure you could. If you're putting a hot water bottle or a heating pad on it, the heat retention of the fabric is not really all that important - it's going to warm up. And the amount of oil is not really a concern either - if you use a diaper or smoother cotton, and feel that you've absorbed all of the oil, then simply add more.
I get my flannel via an old and much-loved beige flannel sheet that has seen better days. I cut squares off of it.
This thread has inspired me to order more castor oil!

I just came across this site out of curiosity, read your post and thought I should still post this answer. Even though the question you posted was not current in this case it is still not too late to get you the answer you so desire to learn. So here it goes. According to a piece I read by Dr. Harris,( His Eminent ) the late Mr. Edgar Cayce in his instructions mentioned about why he recommended wool for Castro oil application was because, 'He (late Mr. Cayce) said that white wool flannel has the needed electrical and conductive properties'.

How interesting. I just had an MRI and decided to be proactive and had exactly the same question. I've used them before with wool but don't have any on hand and would have to go a distance to get some. I believe the first instructions I had were from a nurse who practices natural cures and has studied for years and years. She said wool flannel... and I chose to go as organic as possible - untreated fabric, *unbleached. Will try to find same again soon, but only have cotton towels now and have already started treatment with that - for now. Hope this helps. Good luck!
