I just wanna ask what it means by having medical checkup. I mean those once a year type. What it consists? I assume it consists of
1. Urine test
2. Blood test
3. Scanning
I began to take it a little more seriously ever since my friend diagnose with nose cancer.
Can this medical checkup detect cancer? I know scanning got few type like ultrasound, CT scan, MRI. Which one can detect cancer? If can detect is in early stage, will be much easier to cure.

MoreThis is a reply to # 613,080An annual checkup normally would not detect cancer. A blood test doesn't reveal cancer like you would think it would. Now if the Dr. feels a lump in your body, he would probably want to test further for cancer.
A checkup at your Dr's office would involve checking your blood sugar, blood pressure, urine sample---normal stuff like that.

This is a reply to # 613,084MRI and CT scans are helpfull tools to check on cancers ,also there is blood tests which is called tumor markers like PSA ,AFP,CA19-9,CA 125,CA15.3 checking on prostat,liver,colon/pancerase,ovaries and breast cancers respectivly. but all depends on which stage the cancer is ,the earlier the difficult to detect and vica versa the later the easier but then its too late ,mostly.

You can go for a full body CT scan. It might cost a few thousand dollars and insurance companies don't pay for it.
A few years ago my husband and I had a virtual colonoscopy done and a heartscan.
And a month ago when I had an ultrasound for my gallstones, they found a spot on my liver.
To make sure it was benign they sent me for a CT scan.

This is a reply to # 613,135So, I guess the best way is to do extra precaution about it like stresss management, right diet, supplement and also pray to God for lengthy life. :-)

Yes medical checkup can detect cancer.
full body checkup or preventive health checkup can screen the person from head to toe for medical issues and access your risk of future medical problems. Your age, health and family history, lifestyle choices (i.e. what you eat, how active you are, whether you smoke), and other important factors impact what and how often you need health care.
