Dear fellow seeker,

Ooohhh, wonderful question!! I had the same question myself years ago, because of the fear of the Christian community about things that they do not know about. I prayed that exploring this path of Reiki (energy work) would never lead me astray.....and it has done the opposite. It has enhanced my spiritual life on all levels. And has made my relationship with Jesus more personal than ever. He is with me in every Present moment, and with each breath that I take. Always in my heart, my awareness, in my consciousness.

Reiki will not interfere with any path that you are on. If you are a Buddhist, it will make you a better Buddhist. If you are a Jew, you will become a better one. And I have seen first hand in our local community here, that the Christians are becoming better Christians. It is a beautiful, non-invasive energy, which will never override the free will. It will support you on whatever path you have chosen.

AND the proof is in the pudding!!!! I look at the fruit of Reiki (and I always include other energy modalities as well).
"By its fruit shall you know it". And the fruit is increased peace, compassion, love, and healing!!

There is a large Reiki community in our area, including Protestant ministers, Catholic nuns, and missionaries are learning it so that they can take it India, Africa, etc. where they are have their ministries.

The woman I learned from was a missionary in India. She was a nurse in a western hospital there 25 years ago. She saw that her western medicine was not helping the people in many cases, but what she observed as some kind of weird "voodoo" was indeed helping them. She was determined to learn about it when she returned to the states. She went to California (the only place at that time to offer workshohps of this kind) and learned to be a pracitioner. After a couple years of doing the work, she began teaching it and I was one of her students. I am truly blessed!!

There is still much fear and misunderstanding in the fundamentalist and conservative Catholic communities, and they warn against it. I wish that I could offer them one Reiki session, and they would feel very different about it. After all, Jesus healed with touch. And he said that we would do greater things than He. Reiki is nothing more than laying on of hands!!

A word of caution: not all Reiki teachers are equal. Some very good ones, and not so good ones. If this is something that speaks to you, discern the teacher carefully. Or read about it in the book I spoke of in another post first. The Reiki energy is evolving and some people are no longer needing the attunements.
