You can still use that juice your sweetie made.
Yes, the fresher the better, but unless you want to get out your juicer every time you want a lemonade (and clean it), I think it is o.k. to make juice every 2-3 days.
And Yes, juice the whole lemon.
Here is my routine:
Once a week at the store, I pick the biggest ones with the fewest blemishes.
I usually buy about 10-12 at a time. (They will mold if you keep them too long)
I make about 2 cups of juice (lasts about 2-3 days depending on how many lemonades I make) at a time which takes about 5 good sized lemons.
Run some water over the lemons you are about to juice.
Then sprinkle a little baking soda on your hands and scrub each lemon with your palms and fingers. (10 seconds per lemon)
Rinse them off.
My juicer's mouth is not large so I have to cut the lemons into quarters.
When I'm through juicing, I store the juice in a bottle with a lid in the fridge.
Then every time I make a lemonade, I shake the bottle to mix the juice and foam. (It separates)
And don't forget to rinse the juicer's parts.
I empty the refuse bucket in the trash, then I rinse everything under the faucet. (the minced peelings make the drain smell better)
I hope this helps.
