Everything living and non-living has consciousness. Every mountain has its own soul entity, an so does a river, a tree, a plant, an ant, a dolphin, an elephant, and a dog. Tree beings are very evolved and are wisdom keepers. They communicate with humans who love them dearly. Sharks, dolphins and wales and some others like sea turtles maintain a frequency band around the globe that Some souls are more aware of who they are in their embodied form than others, just like it is with humans. Some also come here to work through their personal and collective karma in order to grow and complete themselves. Many animal souls prefer to reincarnate within the species they lived before, but some change to other animals. We had once a mule tell us his earthly years in a mule's body in Mexico and about the labor he did so willingly. Although, his work was strenuous at times, his keepers very very kind to him, and he died without any regrets. When he was old, they didn't kill him but fed him until his natural death. Right now is preparing to come back as a pet with a family that won't make him work. He loves with to be with human beings, hence the desire to become a pet versus a wild animal.

Plant beings are not any less developed and readily respond to human emotions (see scientific reaearch on this in my book It's Time to Come Alive). They know more about world events than the new media because they don't have the intellectual barrier to overcome that limits our perception of the way things truly are.
In this Age of Ignorance (ending now) we lost our ability of telephathic communication with all things. Atoms and subatomic particles have both an indidual and collective consciousness (a higher dimensional self). Some pets come back as as an atom to check out how that is. Each atom is a hightly intellegient form of angleic force, which in turn is made of many other even more subtle forms. That's why they know where to go to create something like a tree or a human body. If they were innate things, the universe would break upart in no time. There would be no rocks, no trees, no water, no life.

Dogs know when their owners decide to go home and they walk towards the door to greet them. Since we are one with all things but believe we are not, we have this notion that we are the only sentient beings. Unusual pet stories are rapidly changing that perception. Many pets have unconditional love and are here to open the hearts of humans, and to bridge the enormous gap that exists bewteen the animal kingdom and humankind caused by the unnecessary mass slaughter of animals.
