Just wnated to share my experience.
I suffer from pretty severe cold sores (outbreaks every 4 to 5 days) that were finally brought under control when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.
I want to do a full body cleanse, so I started out using Oxypowder for the bowel cleanse. After 4 days of taking 4 capsules, I started getting terrible herpes breakouts. Literally was sprouting new breakouts daily.
As soon as I stopped using the Oxy, the breakouts stopped. I was having a little bowel difficulty and took some a few weeks after this - 4 capsules for one time only - and with in hours had a cold sore breakout.
So - just a word caution to those with herpes who want to use Oxypowder .

I too had a terrible experience with oxyclean. I took it for 4 days. On the 3rd day I had terrible fatigue, could hardly keep my eyes open, on day 4 I developed agonising pains in my bowel (lower left side)that doulbed me up. THEN - a period started with the worst cramping pains I had ever experienced, and I had to take 2 days of work. And they sell this product without any cautions or warnings. I also got the worst menstrual cramps of my life after taking Oxypowder for the second time (second bottle)... but I am 99% sure that that is simply because OP is magnesium, and mentrual cramps can result from a distorted calcium/magnesium ratio. I think the key is to balance all that magnesium with calcium.

I would be very wary of taking extra magnesium to compensate - all that would happen is the body would "dump" it into cells creating more of the toxicity you are trying to get rid of. Most calcium supplements are made with chalk which is not a form the body can use, hence the dumping into cells. With hindsight, I just do not believe that a magnesium based bowel cleanser is a good long (or even short) term option for anyone. I fully agree with your point about it causing a chronic electrolyte imbalance though! I shall stick to naturopathic recommended methods in future, psyllium, short grain brown rice and flaxseed. This is a reply to # 462,999I also experienced the same dreaded event after taking Oxypowder . It does a great job for cleaning out your colon but it causes severe herpes outbreak.
I've never experienced this problem with other magnesium supplements such as Calm. I wonder if it has something to do with the oxygen effect? All I know is herpes sufferers should away from this product.

I found Oxypowder to be the absolute best Colon Cleanse I ever tried, and I tried it all. However, I had to take much less than recommended. I wonder if anyone has a theory about why you are getting the breakouts - but I wonder if using it very slowly might help - like one or two pills a night at most. Here's one possible theory - Maybe the detox is too fast for your body to expel and it's causing overload. Anyway, the stuff worked exceptionally well for me, but I had to go super, super slow, with less pills over a longer period of time.
