Hi,
My Dr diagnosed me with irritable bowel and also sent me for tests on the gall bladder. Ultra sound revealed no stones, but Hida Scan shows only 16% function.
My symptoms are: moderate to severe pain just under my ribs (gallbladder), chronic constipation (both of these are lifelong, but I have gotten to the point that I can't eliminate without a laxative), sensitivity to real ice cream and other high fat foods nausea when I eat, etc...Classic symptoms, huh?
I have been on Weight Watchers for 3 months, and lost 20 lbs (**yeah!**), and I think that probably triggered my severe pain with the gall bladder, or perhaps made it worse? I don't know. Family history: Mother had gall bladder taken out last summer after it got infected, gave her pancreitis (sp?), 2 maternal aunts have had theirs out due to stones.
I was sent to a surgeon, and am scheduled to get blood work today at lunch and for surgery to remove the gall bladder next Thursday.
Both the Dr and the surgeon told me that the gall bladder would never work right again, because it is "like leather", and this seems to be a life long problem.
Anyway, I have read thru this site with much interest, and a few others that are along the same lines.
My favorite uncle who is very much like a father to me listens to a Dr Wallach on the radio every day. Dr Wallach has him convinced that I don't need to have my gall bladder out, and that his system of herbs and minerals will CURE my gall bladder. Favorite Uncle went to the herbal store and purchased "Ultimate Cleanse FX" , and brought them to me. The ingredients are:
Flax seed 600 mg, Cape Aloe leaf gel 300 mg, Rhubarb root 300 mg, Triphala 100 mg, Slippery Elm Bark 100 mg, Marshmallow root 100 mg.
I called the herbalist and spoke with him at some length and he convinced me to at least try the product. The herbalist would not tell me that I would be cured (which my uncle said he told him), but that the gall bladder would be emptied, and give me relief. Evidently, I must continue using said herbals to continue the cleansing/relief.
I was instructed to take 1 capsule last night at bedtime, and continue taking 1 each night until the night before I have an off day, that night I am to take 3 capsules. Today I am off work, but couldn't take 3 because my daughter has an orthodontist appointment at 9, my blood work at 12, and daughter had eye dr appointment at 1:30, WHEW! (I work 3 days, off 1, work 2, off 1). Herbalist told me that I would begin to see "buggers" in my stool this morning, and that would be the gunk coming out of the gall bladder.
Well, I took the capsule last night, and have felt nothing out of the ordinary. First BM this morning was the usual, took forever to get out, hard, painful, and revealed nothing exciting. I decided to go ahead and try the
coffee enema bowel cleanse. Figured it couldn't hurt, and besides, I was a little backed up anyway.
All I can say is YUCK!! I didn't get any ropes or anything like that, just looked like ordinary diarreha, but I stunk up the whole house, it was really foul, like something dead! I was running around opening the windows and turning on fans to rid the house of the stink. I never did see anything that looked like it might have been out of the gall bladder, but there was a bunch of bright orange stuff in the poop. Don't know what that could have been.
I feel like I am "cleaner" than I have been, but the gall bladder still feels tight and crampy, so I don't think the Cleanse FX did anything for me. I plan to continue to take 1 each night until Sat night, when I will take 3. I also will keep up the coffee enemas, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I also plan to abstain from meat, and only eat soups, crackers and such. Don't know if that will help, but I figured it couldn't hurt.
At this point, I am still going to have the gall bladder taken out, unless something drastic happens over the next few days and makes me change my mind. From everything I have read on the internet, there is no 'magic cure' to make it work properly again. Even if I get it flushed now, I will have to continue flushing periodicaly to keep it clean. I have read thru the archives on this site and saw where there were a couple of people who had flushed several times and still ended up having it taken out.
But, having said all that, I intend to continue with the cleansing program, and once I get thru and over the surgery, I intend to do all the cleanses, one at a time. I am particularly interested in the
parasite flush, as we live on a beef cattle farm, we also have horses, dogs and cats. Although all of our animals are on different worming/
parasite programs, I am sure that some of them have parasites, and possibly have transferred them to us.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very open and appreciate any advice.
Thanks
Tricia
