I was horrified with the story of the Flood when we began attending a different church several years ago that was studying it in the pre-church classes, even though I had grown up knowing about it. I was also pregnant, and I thought about all the babies and children and pregnant women that were destroyed during the Flood. It took me several years, but the Lord brought me to a conclusion that helped me somewhat. If He had not brought the Flood, NONE OF US WOULD BE HERE TODAY. The human race was on a fast, self-destructive road to hell. We would have totally and completely annhilated ourselves long before now. It was a horrible decision for the Lord, and He promised He would never send another Flood because it grieved Him so to see all that death and destruction, not only of the entire human race (excepting those 8 survivors), but of all His creation. By sending the Flood, He was giving the human race another very undeserved chance. And He gave everybody over 100 years to repent, or however long it took Noah to build the ark. It was the decision of those around Noah to refuse the truth, not God's. I forget where the scripture is, but God doesn't want anyone to die. He wants us all to receive Yeshua as our Lord and Saviour.
As an aside, we learned in our Sabbath School class that the very, very old Chinese language, which is composed of characters, has the two characters of "8" and "flood" to compose the character of "total". Makes one think.
Thanks for your post.
