hi everyone, sorry i haven't been in touch with you for a while. i just wanted to tell you how this red/blue light thing has been working out for me. well, i've been using it steadily (meaning almost every day for more than a year now), and i have been more than pleased with the results. i use it for about ten minutes in the morning and for fifteen minutes at night and my face stays pretty clear- in fact, i really haven't had any
Acne flare ups (just a couple now and then if i'm really stressed and i drink a lot of coffee- stay away from the java if you can!) since i went on a regular cycle with the light box. one thing i've noticed is that when i use the light, my face feels tighter and less oily. in addition to the light box, i use proactiv solution ( the other benzoyl peroxide solutions were too harsh for my face), just the cleanser and the repairing lotion (the toner doesn't do a thing for me) in the morning and before i go to bed. i've also noticed is that if you eat garlic everyday (i prefer odor-free garlic tabs so you don't have the offensive garlic breath), that
Acne flare ups just disappear. i personally take about four a day- two in the morning and two in the afternoon. gargling with listerine after eating is also good for killing those annoying mouth bacteria that hang around after you eat something decadent or greasy. believe me, mouth bacteria is related to
Acne bacteria in more ways than one. with this regimen, my face has been pretty much pimple free (i still have a few now and then- but just small ones around my hairline that disappear after a couple of days- you guys out there, try to stay away from greasy pomade as well). compared to the way my face looked before i started using the light, i would say this is a 90% improvement. i know this sounds like a lot, but you should have seen my face before- i definitely was not a pretty sight. i have large pores and when i break out, it spreads all over my face. but since i've been on the light, i can tell that my pores are getting smaller and the oil on my face is dissapating. i only wish that i could take this light with me all the time. my only regret is that it is very cumbersome and the cord gets easily frayed if twisted too much (watch out for this if you buy it, replacing the light is not cheap!). i plan to write the company and inquire if they could possibly make a portable one in the future so i can take it on trips with me.
also, to stray away from the subject of the acne light for a moment, i also wanted to say that your diet DOES effect acne- contrary to those who say it doesn't. i've noticed, for myself, that if i eat very salty, greasy, spicy foods, that i tend to break out more. and if i'm bloated or have a lot of gas this also adds to more breakouts. i personally believe if you keep your stomach happy and healthy your face will love you for it. eating fresh fruits and vegetables, a lot of fiber, lots of water, and a regular
Colon Cleanse (the one's recommended on this website are pretty good) now and then helps me a lot. also, a good night's rest and plenty of exercise also does wonders for the skin. and for all you occaisional drinkers out there (myself included) alcohol does aggravate acne as well. so, kids, keep those whiskey sours down to a minimum!
well, i hope this helps you guys out. i know this light is not a cure-all for acne or anything like that, but for me it has worked out pretty well. if you decide to get the light for yourself, please write this forum and tell me how it works for you. i would like to see how others fare with the light therapy with or without any other combination treatment(s) as well. good luck!
p.s. if you're wondering if i'm the same person that wrote the original message in this particular subject forum, i am. i could'nt remember what my password was and i tried the cure zone 'forgot password' screen for it to be sent to my e-mail. it turns out i couldn't remember the e-mail address i used over a year ago! in addition to clearing my pimples, maybe the light has cleared my brain cells as well (haha). i almost forgotten that i was a subscriber to this forum until i did a google search for goodredherring (which is, by the way, a phrase from one of my favorite books). how's that for karma? keep in touch!
