I am just going to start this diet on Friday, with my hubby.
For the past year or two, I have been reading and sometimes using Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. Jordan Rubin uses quite a number of her recipes -- the fermented foods, raw butter, etc. are in her book, as well as in the MD. It is most interesting and teaches old ways of preparing foods.
I have been gathering up sources for pasture-fed beef, free-range chickens and eggs, raw honey, etc., etc. I fact, I was given the book at one of the pasture-fed beef farms where I bought some beef. I only completely read it recently and realized that all of these foods which I have been gathering up are included in this way of eating, so I figured that that must be the reason why I have been able to find them all -- so that I could use them to eat healthfully and simply.
I like the way that Jordan lays out the program. He also recommends his supplements (and others as well, I must say) -- his have the HSO -- Homeostatic Soil Organisms in them -- key to their success. Although I would like to avoid the expense of supplements, I am going to consume these so that I get the full benefit of the program. In time, I hope to replace them with the fermented and cultured foods.
I believe that the Bible was given as a guide for the people on Earth but it has been manipulated quite a bit. I don't know much about the Old Testament and hope that it has not been fiddled with quite so much as the New Testament. However, the proof will be in the pudding -- and I hope that it is yummy! Haha!
Just to see a young man recover the way that Jordan has is very inspiring. People who suffer greatly and who find a way back to health offer interesting ways to health for others.
We just want to lose some weight and get back to 'feeling like ourselves' -- and for me to get back on track in the kitchen!
I hope that you find lots of people who can give you information as to their success on this way of eating. I'll drop a note here every now and then on our progress.
