you cant have antichrist without christ, so john was right. and in fact the disciples did some things in the name of christ that went against what he had taught them - that would be antichrist.

the meaning is most readily seen in the greek word itself, the preffix "anti". strongs numbers the greek word "antichristos" as being number 500 and gives the meaning as an opponent of messiah. a little thought on this alone would lead one to conclude that a true opponent of anyone in any contest is one who is skilled at the same things as their competitor. you wouldnt see a bake-off champion being much of an opponent to a chess master, now would you? but it gets better. i dont have my thayers greek concordance handy, but a strongs is essential, the very basic companion to the bible and why i stick with the king james so i can look things up easy. but i digress.

strongs also says that the word "antichristos" comes from word 473, "anti" and word 5547, "christos". lets look at 473. opposite, i.e. instead or because of(rarely, in addition to). often used in composition to denote contrast, requital, substitution, correspondence, etc.

the opposite of something is its mirror image. it is composed of the same stuff, same lines, shapes, colors, etc. sometimes this opposition can come in the form of a simple addition, an admixture or corruption of the original. its opposition is most seen in contrast to the original, otherwise, without that contrast, lack of attention to detail could again cause the imposter to be passed off as the original, making it a substitute of the original. and the opposer will have many attributes which correspond to the original, you wouldnt have a competitor in a long distance race show up in full linebacker gear.

the antichrist is in the image of christ. all of the props he uses are stolen from christ. he uses the same scriptures. he tries to look the same, act the same, etc. how can one tell the difference? well, my bible says you have to be one of the elect or it is possible to fool you. and this deception is worldwide, so most people worship the antichrist, not christ. dems the facts.
