Many are justifiably concerned about the carnal condition of the Church. Paul wrote Galatians as the scriptural answer--but he is little regarded today, as the following will verify.
ARMINIANISM -- Among those who seek to solve the Church problem are the Arminians--creators of problems. Their erroneous and therefore harmful method is to threaten the believer with loss of salvation.
COVENANTISM -- Covenant theology utilizes the same threat, but in a different manner. If the believer fails to live consistently to the very end, it is taught that he was not saved in the first place.
LORDSHIP -- Dr. John MacArthur, along Covenant lines, seeks to solve the problem by making conversion more demanding, thinking that a Lordship beginning will provide a successful continuation--with the "help" and control of the law.
PARTIAL RAPTURE -- This teaching threatens the believer with elimination from the Rapture, being left behind to make up for his lack in order to finally reach heaven.
JUDGMENT SEAT --This movement grants complete Rapture, but "lays for you" at the Bema, where its damage to the Body is wreaked.
All of these overcome-or-else movements rend the Word and tear the Body in their efforts at rectification of the Church. Talk about violation of the rightly-divided Word! Talk about abusing the Bride! Sad to relate, there are some important dispensational names implicated in this disaster.

This is a reply to # 406,606These kinds of teachings are the very things my sons and I like to debate when we all get together. To me it is so much fun, not to trash or mock the different church doctrines, but to really work out our own salvation in fear and trembling; also to try to nail what it is we really believe, and see if we're being led into error.
One thing I'm learning these days is to go back and re-read the Bible. It's so hard for me to challenge beliefs that I've held or my fundamentalist Baptist grandmother impressed upon my forehead as a young girl. I'm with ya completely on Armenianism. Oh, man, I thought our current (free will) church was going to split up over that one when a highly respected Sunday School teacher revealed his reformed views. I've been a reformed Calvinist for years and years, but I had never known anyone to pick up Romans 9 and teach it in a free will congregation before. But I can't do the infant baptism thing, so I guess I'm a 4 pointer rather than a 5 pointer. I usually keep quiet about my reformed views because it upset so many people---hope it doesn't upset you guys--- I'd probably be comfortable in a reformed Presbytarian (PCA) church, but not so legalistic as some PCAs are.
Covenentalism is another one. I can see some of it, but I don't know. I can see where a Dispensationalist like you would gag on Covenentalism. There's a New Covenental movement that seems to be pretty popular with the younger crowd now that I want to explore.
Dr. MacArthur, I think you either love him or "hate" him. You're right, he tries to make conversion hard, and, of course, it isn't.
Partial rapture is straight pop Christian culture. Everybody seems to be into it. It reminds me of those spiritual warfare Christian novels that were popular back in the 80's- Frank Perlucci or whatever his name was. You know, the angels were riding on the car hood while they traveled, the demons were around the corner, we could see them but the characters couldn't.... People were basing their theology off of those books and not reading the Bible.
Hadn't heard about the Judgement Seat movement.
Like I said, I just like to do some sword sharpening sometimes. It's good to look at different teachings and say, hey, what do I really believe? And, if I believe it, what do I have as an argument that makes it a true/correct teaching?
Above all, we are commanded to love one another, so that's what I try to do. Not very good at it, sometimes, but I try.

This is a reply to # 406,626i am amazed. angels on car hoods? do people actually believe that? i know anything is possible, but imagining it and calling it fact is quite another thing.
i am amazed at all of the names of people and doctrines people know. to me, its like not watching tv and having people want to talk about - did you see this show? or that episode? it is all quite meaningless, right down to bare bones.
i find plenty in the bible to think on, more than i can handle at any one time. so i do seek diversions, but i know what they are - diversions.
the problem i see is that people talk about things and they have no clue. it is a guess. like a well written crossword puzzle, they can fill it out any number of ways in any given section and the words will fit, until they reach a certain point. but instead of starting all over again. they just take that section and proclaim it solved and to heck with whether it fits together with everything else.
none of following christ is hard to understand. but it is obviously too hard to do, or people wouldnt have the problems they do. mr. bm has been sold a bill of goods. he preaches of no one that i know. at least he understands that much, and accuses me of teaching another christ. he needs to look in the mirror.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 406,629You're right, Trapper, the gospel is so simple and we try to make it so hard. Distill the gospel down to its elements, and what do you get?
1. God is holy. We are not.
2. We must prepare our hearts for the Kingdom of God- the way of the Lord. We can't.
3. Jesus is the way. Also the truth. And the life. Accept this.
4. We aren't like Him at all. Repent.
5. Keep looking at Christ, and do what He did. Love others. Stand back and let God be God.
Am I right? Is there more? Too much?

1. God is holy. We are not.
You were made holy at the point of salvation.
Col 3:12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
Heb 3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;
1Pe 2:9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
2. We must prepare our hearts for the Kingdom of God- the way of the Lord. We can't.
The Father puts us in the Kingdom at the point of salvation.
Col 1:13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
4. We aren't like Him at all. Repent.
The Father makes us like The Son at the point of salvation.
1Jo 4:17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
5. Keep looking at Christ, and do what He did. Love others. Stand back and let God be God.
Let The Word of God and The Holy Spirit produce it's fruit in you as you rest in Him.
Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.
Col 1:3 We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Col 1:4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the saints;
Col 1:5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel
Col 1:6 which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth;
