I had a tooth removed 8 days ago, and am still having pain - in fact more than before. It had become infected - I've had on/off problems with this tooth for years, & I was taking
Antibiotics for 4 days before the extraction, which had lessened the pain then.
The tooth didn't want to come out - the dentist had to drill & dig to get 2 peices out. During the procedure, I remember him saying that the main nerve in the jaw was exposed.
I didn't find out much about the state of the tooth afterwards, because I was sedated for the extraction & it was not done by my own dentist.
I had been looking forward to less pain once the tooth was gone, but find it was worse - filling the whole side of my head (jaw top & bottom, cheek, temple, ear, throat & tongue). To make it worse, on the 5th day, I got a bit of food stuck on the top of the gum & so rinsed to remove it. As it wouldn't move, I rinsed harder & I think must have flushed away the new skin/gum that was growing.
Now I have a huge, deep hole over half of the gap. I guess it must have healed, because the pain is less than it was, but I'm worried about that hole now & I still have aching around the site (lower jaw) & also in the top jaw above it.
Has anyone had this? or any advice? I've read about cleaning the socket when extracting, but I'm sure they didn't do that, but would they be able to anyway if the main jaw nerve was exposed? I would think it would be dangerous to drill around the socket in that case?
I was hoping that this would be a miracle cure for me, as I have R
Arthritis also, but so far no change.
I guess I'll have to go back to the dentist, but I'm reluctant because I don't have much faith in my dentists abilities (I feel lit's her fault I ended up with the
root canal filling in the first place & her fault for letting it go bad - I kept going back saying it wasn't sealed - bad taste, filling it 2 parts & back part seemed to be slipping off the back of the tooth).
I'm nervous at the best of times.
