Dear Canadian Girl,
First of all, the "sodium" in sodium ascorbate
is not salt. Most people immediately think of
salt when they hear the word, sodium. So you
do not have to worry about salt buildup in your body. Your immune system will use what
it needs of the vitamin C as sodium ascorbate
(probably all of it), and gently flush the rest.
Second, you mentioned a history of kidney stones. I have two suggestions for you, both
of which I use myself. I don't have kidney
stones, and I don't want them. So I incorporate one herbal tea and one supplement
into my eating-regimen to prevent stones from
forming.
1)The tea consists of 10 herbs, and is recommended by
Andreas Moritz , whose forum
used to be the shining star of CZ. He suggests
you buy a pre-mixed batch of the herbs from
a small company in Minnesota called The Present Moment. I've been dealing with them for more than a year, and they're trustworthy.
If you call them, SPECIFY that you want the
kidney cleanse tea recommended by
Andreas Moritz . Their website is:
http://www.presentmoment.com and their order line is
1-800-378-3245. A pre-mixed batch of the
kidney cleanse tea costs around $25.00. Andreas suggests you drink the tea daily for
20 to 30 days. If you have a history of kidney
stones, he suggests you do another cleanse
after 6 to 8 weeks. Soak the tea overnight
in your teapot filled with water. In the morning, bring it to a boil, and then take
it off the heat,
2) The supplement is Chanca Piedra, a famous
herb in South America. The name means "Stone
Breaker." Chanca Piedra will dissolve kidney
stones, prevent new ones from forming (as well
as gallstones), and tone and protect the liver
and kidneys.
I buy my Chanca Piedra from Raintree Nutrition, a company I've been dealing with
for more than 10 years. They specialize in
herbs from South America. Raintree sells a
bottle of Chanca Piedra, 100 capsules of 500 mg
each, for $16.95. I take one cap every third
day as part of my protection program. I make
a batch of
kidney cleanse tea about once a
week. Raintree's website is:
http://www.RaintreeNutrition.com
Their order line is 1-800-780-5902
I also get my Cat's Claw capsules from them.
You mentioned calcium. Instead of taking
calcium supplements, I suggest you eat some
dried seaweed every day, as I do. Also
consider incorporating some bee pollen into
your diet. Both are good sources of calcium
that is easily assimilable by your body.
Dark green veggies are also good sources of
calcium.
Your Mom should also consider adding the
seaweed and bee pollen to her diet. They
contain every known vitamin and nutient.
I wouldn't be without them.
I hope this information helps you, Canadian
Girl, and that you're enjoying a pleasant
summer in your northern home.
Blessings,
Owen
