sodium ascorbate is buffered. The sodium is the buffer.
"the runs" does cause electrolyte loss. If you lacked
sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium prior to the "flush"
then this would be rational expectation.
Next time:
for one week prior to flush
- every day 4 bananas and 1 orange
- do not skimp on salt. Don't over do it. Make sure you can taste it
but it should not taste bad.
- take some magnesium and calcium.
-drink min 8 gls h2o.
After the flush, drink some fruit juices (orange, banana, grape) and eat some prunes to re-establish the electrolytes. How much>? Comfort level is a natural indicator. A few glasses should do. Not all at once...
Turn on air cond so you don’t sweat too much that day.
Some people eat too much salt and for such people a sodium ascorbate flush is not
a good thing as too much sodium can cause a heart attack due to elevated blood pressure. It is not easy to rebalance after the flush if
(1) you have high/low blood pressure issues
(2) you had serious electrolyte imbalance prior to the flush
(3) if you continue lifestyle habits after the flush that lead to electrolyte imbalance. In short, bad eating habits. Too much processed food, too much slat, not enough salt, excess dieting.
May use calcium ascorbate next time.
