Oh my gosh! My 2 month old son received his
vaccinations yesterday and HAD THE EXACT SAME REACTIONS! Brought him home from the hospital (my husband is retired military, and the pediatric clinic is in the hospital) and within 3 hours, Luke woke up fussing, I mixed him a bottle, picked him up and the screams began. The screaming did not let up for 4 hours. He never cries, let alone screaming. I had been told (verbally) by the pediatrician that if he cried for longer than 3 hours or if his fever was over 105, to call or come in to the ER if after clinic hours. They also gave me paper information on the vaccines, and it has listed:
Mild Reactions
Sore arm or leg
Fever
Fussy
Less Appetite
Tired
Vomiting
Moderate to Serious Reactions:
Non-stop crying (3 hours or more) 100 of every 10,000 doses
Fever of 105 or higher 30 of every 10,000 doses
Seizure (jerking or staring) 6 of every 10,000 doses
Child becomes limp, pale, less alert 6 of every 10,000 doses
Severe Reactions:
Breathing difficulty, shock
Long seizure, coma or lowered consciousness
After I determined that his screaming had gone on long enough (over 3 hours - actually it had been over 4 hours) I took him to the ER (same Army hospital). After waiting 2 1/2 hours, my baby was seen by the doctor. When he asked me what the problem was, I started wondering about his ability to help us. Luke had been screaming non-stop from the time we entered the hospital up until about 15 minutes before the physician saw him. The entire ER could hear him screaming and we had multiple nurses coming by to check on us to make sure he was ok. By the time the physician saw him, he had been crying non-stop for over 6 hours and was so exhausted, he couldn't move anymore. He was losing his voice and the injection sites (2 on his left leg and 1 on his right) were swollen and the red inflammation was spreading up and down his leg. He was running a 100.5 degree temp on .08 mg of tylenol. The physician said that he was ok and sent us home. That was it. Nothing more.
I have a number to call to report such an incident. It is 1-800-822-7967. This is the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). If our children have been seriously injured by this vaccine, then the government will help pay for the care of such injury. You can check this out at
http://www.hrsa.dhhs.gov/bhpr/vicp/new.htm
or call 1-800-338-2382. It is the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
I know that this doesn't make us feel any better, but at least we can look into the problem further. I am so extremely angry at that ignorant physician that I could scream. I was told to bring him in to the ER only to be sent home with no help whatsoever. I'm calling the VAERS to report this and I am also placing a complaint against the physician. Reporting such a claim to the VAERS can also help us understand what we need to do for the future injections and what if any thing we can do to stop injury or prevent further injury from these incompetent medical "professionals". I feel that I can say this confidently due to I have been an RN for over 15 years.
Let me know how you make out with this and I will do the same. You and your daughter will be in my prayers. . .
