For silver mercury fillings? Not unless you drill the fillings yourself or break your tooth. Silver fillings are placed below "undercuts", where your tooth holds the metal filling in place mechanically - the base of the filling is wider than the top of the filling - like this

It's not a stupid question, it's crossed my mind. I don't see how you could remove them w/o hurting yourself.
