You may want to drink aloe vera juice. It has been helpful in healing my gut lining. Plant enzymes are also believed to help in the healing process. You may also want to consider supplementing with l-glutamine, as it is quite beneficial in helping the intestinal lining repair itself. There is one brand I've seen that also contains molybdenum which will be helpful in converting any candida toxins that may still be in your system, but if you can't find that, don't worry about it. Supplemental glutamine is a corn derivative, so if you are not allergic to corn it should be okay to supplement it.
I have leaky gut and candida from years of undiagnosed gluten-intolerance. I discovered my intolerance while on the candida diet. After majorly researching gluten-intolerance, I realized that I was a classic case. Everything from autoimmune thyroid disease to premature birth, and of course the typical bloating and pain after eating. And more recently, a growing sensitivity to previously benign foods. I honestly don't believe I ever complained of my stomach issues to my docs as I always believed it must be from over eating or eating too fast, even though I usually finish eating last no matter who I'm around. And since I have never had extra weight, my docs never asked about my digestion or eating habits.
Now a month into my restricted diet, I have narrowed it down to gluten/wheat, dairy, and for the time being, citrus fruits. I honestly believe the citrus fruits are merely a result of the leaky gut. I believe when I no longer react to the citrus, that I will know the my gut has finally healed.
If you are on the candida diet, you are probably not eating any wheat/gluten. So you will not be able to be properly tested for celiac disease with you doctor. After removing gluten from your diet, the antigens quickly die down in your body, and the tests can give a false negative. You have to be actively eating plenty of gluten for several weeks/months prior to testing to get an accurate result. Even the biopsy they recommend could fail as your gut lining begins to repair itself too. However, you may want to test your reaction to some of the trigger foods, like gluten, so that you can begin to narrow down your actual problem foods. After that you may be able to return to a somewhat normal diet, one that even contains natural, unprocessed sweetners and fruit, without reactivating your candida.
