YUCK! I hate hate hate what the 'christians' are doing for those of us who do believe what Christ preached. They create such a soft gushy santa clause god...either that or hellfire and brimstone god who tells every other religion or non religion to go f**k off-- enjoy your ticket to hell. Then they just reiterate how incomplete their picture is by spewing forth religionized fluff. Nice...that will really make people say 'yeah I wanna be a part of THAT group!'
I know I run the risk of fueling the fire our athiest brothers already have blazing against us and our God by writing this post, because some may say 'see-- you guys can't even agree within your own religion. Why would I want to be part of that?' That is not my intent here. I don't mean harm here, I mean to ask for awakening. I mean to plead with my family to put up or shut up for the sake of the rest of us. I live in the 'Bible Belt' and my heart breaks everytime I hear a 'christian' speak their native language of 'christianeze'. I want to say, what the world are you talking about? I don't understand you, and I happen to believe Christ. Trying to 'save' the world. Look at your own shortcomings, fix them and then move onto others. We are supposed to have compassion for our fellow man.
I mean come on guys, please, investigate what it is you say you believe, or who you believe in! To do some of your own damage to you and quote scripture to you 'work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.' Why does he make a point to say fear and trembling there at the end? Because it is a SCARY business living not with rules, procedures, and rote...but what Christ died to preserve, loving wisdom. We all have gotten so far from what he intended for us to be. Everyone looks at this religion as incomplete at best. And can you blame them? To quote a bit of a post, "it would be very hard to speak with someone who had only read huck finn all their life" GREAT POINT.
And if anyone sans religion is reading this, the internal strife in this religion is truly abhorrent. I belive Christ cries when he sees his namesakes running around doing so much damage! They are so mean! I believe the reason the world isn't changed is all our fault. Christ died to give us the ability to change the world for the better and look what we have done with it. We have created such a blasphemous picture of God that when people hear the name Jesus at best they roll their eyes, and at worst flip him off and tell him to go to hell. WHAT HAVE WE DONE?
So 'christians' if you read this, don't go to bed tonight without praying that God will show you how to love...even if the teacher isn't a 'christian'.
I mean after all, we are all alike when death comes to get us...shouldn't we live like it? We need an awakening.
Sorry for ranting, I just couldn't stand by and be silent while I watch one more group of people RUIN the name of Christ. Perhaps I'll not change the world, but at least I'll love the people in it.

This is a reply to # 270,881I was debating with myself whether or not I was stepping on toes here and whether I should've posted to the 'chrisitan' forum instead. I may still post it there as I see dogma everywhere I go on the web, heck in life too. I haven't even gone to that forum, knowing what I would find there.
I want people of other belief systems to hear another side of what has been marred and tainted in the minds of so many as 'christianity'. I don't even like to refer to myself as one due to all the nonsense that surrounds that religion. Hence my desire to post in a forum addressed to everyone, not just 'christians'. I don't think it's healthy to stay in cliques and speak in cliches. I don't think it's nurturing to harm others 'in the name of Jesus'. I don't have many answers to lots of questions, just one that I have been forced in my own life to answer. What do I believe in. And that is the only question I claim to have a definitive answer to.

I think seeing other viewpoints is a valuable excercise as it serves several functions.
It can serve as contrast to see what you don't want (moving away from) and it can help mirror things that cause discomfort in us (things that need to be healed).

This is a reply to # 270,883I just got finished reading many of your posts from the 'christian debate forum' and I noticed no one had any good answers to the many plausible questions and answers you presented. Want to know why?? Manistream christianity has moved so freakin' far away from the Eastern Religion that started it, it's scary. No one knows how to think for themselves. No one dare 'challenge the Almighty' or some such nonsense. I would love to share ideas with you, as I have had to search on my own for the answer to many of the questions mainstream leaves untouched.
They forget to speak about the God who created sex to be enjoyed. That he created us as sexual beings and wants us to enjoy that even when that means the 'M' word...masturbation (can you hear the screams? fear of their own sexuality?). The Bible doesn't cover a great many things. So do we just close our eyes, pretend the 'non revealed issues' don't exist, and tell everyone else they are wrong? No! ...wait a minute though...that's exactly what is happening!
Also, none of their leaders, or very few facilitate and encourage 'decision' and having to (gasp) say 'I don't know', or perhaps even that Christianity and/or the Bible doesn't have an answer to that. They are closed to the idea that the Bible is a part of a whole. A glimpse into things, but not the 'insruction manual'. If it were that, it would be far more inclusive than it is. No, it was a guide, in it's original form, to let people see into the past a bit. But oh how us westerners brutalize it's beauty by forgeting it was forged not by western hands but eastern minds. Men who had quite a few issues themselves, and weren't afraid to admit it.
Sheesh, I feel like I am fighting the wind, you know? I am aware there's a force out there, as far as the diseased animal of manistream christianity, but trying to cure that animal and show it what was intended for it to be? Until they open their minds, which is what so many are 'fed' not to do, progress will never come.

This is a reply to # 270,884In a mixed school, there will always be people at various levels of understanding (clarity). It seems that even entities that have a deeper understanding, when in the presence of those that may have less, are crafting aspects of compassion and patience.
The exchange is valuable.
We can really only become whole ourselves and thus entrain others (who are ready) to follow similar expansion in their consciousness (when they are ready to evolve). Leading by example is the most powerful teacher. Infuence comes through coherency and then entrainment.

This is a reply to # 270,884What a breath of fresh air! How inspiring to hear from a christian who is awake!
As a supporter of the athiest concept , I like many, Im sure, know our limitations and understand there is more in the air then what we can see or touch! But we also know/sense that something is not right in the concept of spiritualty as a book of rules and tenets. That to discriminate against another human being and his personal beliefs and the dogma that is force fed its followers to instill hate or aggression on others is contradictory to the original intentions of any religion or spiritual belief! A religion that denies the laws of nature and places values on compliance to archaic doctrine that refuses to adapt to its surrounding environment is as we can see in the world today is a dangerous notion!
Christians more then anyone ,must move on, become larger then the past dictates of an entrenched hierarchy called the church! Christians themselves must be the quiding force that moves the church into the present and the future!The laws of survival and evolution also apply to religion! The people themselves must move to higher ground , and the church will follow!
Compassion and the relief of suffering is the only tenet in Buddhism and I see it was once that way for all religions but somehow that was lost through the ages and is now just secondary to the proliferation of those in charge!
It seems christianity and other theistic religion have placed a lower value on them and in doing so have become exactly the opposite of those original tenets!
Now in this modern age I look around and it appears to me that religion has taken on the credo of devide and conquer , not a very spiritual or compassionate concept!
Thus the breath of fresh air from those like Sara who has opened up the windows of the past and sets compassion free from the shackles of the powers that be! As Drofinnah would say ! Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Or was that Mr Rogers! lol!

This is a reply to # 270,886I just tried to 'expand' the consciousness over in the 'biblical Christianity support' forum, and they pounced on me like I was this years antichrist. What ever will I do? I can't just forget them, I feel so compelled to share the journey of my awakening and my experience in how I got loose from those shackles. I asked them to challenge and take a baby step towards unity and WHOOOM hellfire and brimstone soon followed...and I am one of 'them'!
Well at least I did let some of my human brothers see there's a different side to the dogmatic/fascist world of Christianity. That not all of 'us' (shudder to put myself in it) are uneducated fools who can't give a straight answer, or face opposition and say, 'grace and peace to you my brother as we disagree.'

I am just catching up with the posts from today and I am happy that you have found like-minded souls to chat with!
Like yourself, one of my first posts on Curezone was on the "Christianity" forum, where I was sharing about Christian yoga. They slammed me too, calling me a heathen and wolf in sheep's clothing. I was "condemned" as a false prophet! One of them even referred to me as a demon, lol! Initially, I was stunned, perhaps even a little naive. Now, I just stay clear. There is no rational discussion of open minds possible.
The atheists and others are often far more spiritual than the "biblical christians".
If you go way back to my early posts on their forum, you will see how I tried to reason or at least share my perspective. It was SO interesting! Now I choose to conserve my precious energy for worthwhile things.....
Reconsider feeling compelled to share your awakening with them.....they are babes and just not ready to hear....

You know, I feel so sorry for their soul. Not the 'christianeze' 'save your soul' kind of thing, but the souls that we are all born with, the part that makes us all human. If they treat their own souls with as much disdain as they do other non-conformists, they must be in terrible deep pain. I only recently awakened to the knowledge that my soul, the part of me who was alive long before I 'converted', that my soul was a precious fragile gift that needed to be nurtured and protected, and not barked orders at, condemned and hated, as I had done for too many years. As they do now to everyone. 'Get saved' 'you're evil' 'you're gonna burn' 'you are a sinner and God hates sinners'. Their god may hate sinners, but my God loves 'sinners', because he loves everyone. Period. He loves everyone. We all have a soul, whether acknowledged or not.
I wonder how many of us there are, Daizy4, how many of us are awake? How many of us can band together and share with our humanity and become unified in love?
Isn't this funny, we are more welcomed and at ease posting in an 'atheist' forum than with our 'brothers and sisters'? The divine sense of humor is often pregnant with irony.

In my opinion all we can do is honour them as they experience their path, not unlike how decent parents honour their children as they learn to walk. Learning is experiencial and so is spirituality. One must learn and synthesize. It cannot be force fed. To do so would cause resistence and resentment.
So it becomes important to walk the talk and people lacking a particular experience (distinction) may pick up on it.

your welcome! and I agree with Blue Stone....we need not try to help them....just honor them and let them be.....
and I think you are correct about their deep pain....particular fear..... and anger.... that is how they project their own stuff and create a god in their own image....
I feel joy in your awakening, Sara, and know that in time, all souls will eventually come....
And there are many, many of us, we tend to be a quieter and more contemplative type, not needing to proselytize. our churches are within.....so people are not aware of our numbers. And think of the tale of the hundreth monkey and know that when enough of us reach a certain level of awakening......the others will entrain with us and come along for the ride!

Its a shame! But Sara my dear you are welcome here! Born and raised a christian I can understand your loneliness and longing to communicate and express yourself!
I beleive if Jesus where to return today they would be part of the group that would have him insitutionalized! They live in the land of long ago and refuse to adapt. They believe in the unspoken rule of devide and conquer although they call it, gathering in the flock, no black sheep are allowed! Jesus if anythng was a rebel so comfort yourself in knowing that you are following in his footsteps! Lets not let titles and names devide us ! We are one as people and we all have dreams aspirations and the right to feel and believe as we chose.
Im not sure how familiar you are with Curezone but there are other forums that may interest you ! There is a ' Spirituality Forum ' a 'Consciousness and Awareness' forum a 'God without Religion Forum' which are all open to progressive thought and higher aspirations! ! You should check them out! This is a reply to # 270,890LOL-- I bet they would have him insitutionalized. When did the veiw of Jesus become so passive and weak? He was radical, like you said! In his day, he was certainly not mainstream.
I am just glad the humanity in us all can come together, like you said, skip the titles. We believe differently, AND? That doesn't mean we can't all reach out to each other, have compassion in dealing with each other, and make progress.
I guess This forum isn't the place for all the posts I have been leaving, I'll try the other forums you suggested. Much apologies.
