I would like to start a discussion forum on Dry Mouth, to see if anyone is suffering from this ailment and has any feedback they would like to share on symptoms, cures, advice, herbal or other nontraditional (non-prescription medicine) remedies, etc.
Profile: I'm male, 45 years age, very good health, very selective in my diet, almost non-drinker (infrequent, occasional consumption of wine or beer in small amounts). Don't take any medications, even aspirin irritates me.
For about the last 5 years I have been experiencing dry mouth (but ONLY in the mornings, upon waking; sometimes it is quite pronounced and painful). I occasionally use melatonin as a sleep aid, I have noticed that the dry mouth symptoms are generally worse after using melatonin, although I have noticed extreme dry mouth even after those nights when I have not taken melatonin.
I never feel thirsty during the day, and don't have the symptoms in the daytime. I don't drink a lot of water during the day, but I drink at least several cups of water before going to bed; this doesn't seem to do much to prevent dry mouth in the morning. I don't use an air humidifier, although I'm thinking of getting one to see if it makes a difference.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
