Hi Lois
I am not a health care professional nor medically trained but know enough that perhaps I could help. However, you must check with your doctor or competent healthcare advisor who knows your condition better.
Have you considered a very natural solution such as probiotics and botanical oils? I am not talking about the "freeze dried" powder or tablets nor the weak solution yoghurt with perhaps one or two strains. You must consider 100% live multi-lactic bacteria strains of quality and quantity. They would be most effective and work in the small and large intestines to help rid it of harmful and pathogenic bacteria. These bad bacteria creates toxins that the liver cannot eliminate. Once the digestive system is in good order, then the stress on the liver would be lessened to enable it to work and function properly.
Also the botanical oils would assist the liver function, cell development and health blood. The best info would be to check out these links:

at the second website, navigate easier by going to the top "solutions/products" links.
I hope this is useful and informative for you
Take care n keep well
