Hi,
I'm a long term lurker of this forum as I've had exfoliative cheilitis for nearly 3 years now. Previously my lips were doing much better, I was using aquaphor regularly similar to Daniel Miller and my peeling cycle was roughly 9 days. I never had any thick yellow crusts, the buildup was quite thin although thicker towards the vermillion border.
However, recently I was very stressed and I think this may have triggered inflammation and a huge flare up in my EC. I also have eczema which flared up hugely too. This time the whole of my bottom lip was covered in thick yellow crusts so I went to a dermatologist and asked for a culture swab test. My swab results found candida, staph, and aspergillus.
I was put on
Antibiotics for 6 days which I reluctantly took as my lips had huge bright yellow crusts.
My lips are not as bad as they were before, they don't look as infected but they still keep growing yellow crusts (in the past my EC never looked this yellow) which makes me think the infection is still there but I don't want to continue taking
Antibiotics in case it makes the infection stronger etc. I was wondering if anyone had any advice to kill the infection naturally.
I'm currently using medical grade manuka honey (proven antiseptic) on my lips which has helped significantly but not entirely, and coconut oil. I soak my lips in salt water once a week too.
For the past 3 months I have stopped eating all refined sugars, gluten, cows milk, and refined carbs. I drink goats milk kefir every morning, eat plenty of sauerkraut, organic vegetables, turmeric and coconut oil, and take the probiotic VSL 3. My diet is very similar to the anti candida diet. Also, for the past week I have been taking Allicin Max supplements (called Allimed in the US) which has been proven to kill staph
I do not have any digestive issues or anything but I have
Acne and eczema as well so I'm thinking I could possibly have leaky gut.
I was just wondering if anyone with similar infected EC managed to naturally get rid of their infection? Any advice would be hugely appreciated, thanks!
