Hello everyone! This is my first post here.
I've done IF off and on for the past couple years and I've completed 36hr fasts relatively easy. I've also been doing Keto for several months now (off and on). After reading some books on long term fasting I decided to take it on this week. I started my fast Sunday the 18th at 7PM and ended it on Thursday the 22nd at 1PM (90hrs total).
Ketones (using just Keto sticks)
MG/DL is the measurement
6/19 (3:40PM) 15/40
6/19 (9:30PM) 80
6/20 (5:00AM) 80/160
6/20 (3:00PM) 80
6/21 (7:00AM) 80/160
6/21 (3:43PM) 80
6/22 (9:04AM) 160
Weight:
6/19 183.8
6/20 181.4 - 2.4
6/21 178.4 - 3.0
6/22 175.4 - 3.0
I lost a total of 8.4lbs during the fast.
However I had some concerns I wanted to get some advice on before I embark on my next fast.
My first two days were pretty darn easy, fasting one day isn't an issue for me. However when I woke up on the third day I was completely drained of energy. Standing for more than a few minutes made me feel light headed and like I was going to fall over. Standing up too quickly caused me to almost black out. I was sooo thankful I had Wednesday and Thursday off. Part of me wanted to call it quits after I laid in bed all day but I made myself get through it (by binge watching dr Phil episodes) I pushed myself to go outside twice but it didn't last long before I needed to sit down. Literally my body felt 1000 pounds.
Thursday rolled around and the same thing. Completely drained of energy, laying in bed except to use the bathroom and get more water.
I drank a gallon+ of water a day. I supplemented with salt & magnesium when it started to get really bad. Eventually I broke down and had a Powerade Zero to try and get through it. On Wednesday I started taking some multivitamins in hopes that would change things but to no avail. I broke the fast 1PM on Thursday which made little difference in how I felt but I was scared to wake up Friday feeling the same as I work in shipping and have to unload trucks at 4:30AM on Fridays.
When I woke up Friday I could tell a difference. More energy and less light headed feelings. The more I ate Friday the better I began to feel. I will say I ate A LOT more than intended on Friday and the scale shows that today. I want to start planning my next fast because I know it has made a difference in the way I feel and my body.
However I'm really concerned about going through the bed ridden state again. I want to do a longer fast next time but I need it to not interfere with my job. I pushed myself through it and felt so empowered by that and I want to attempt it again. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated
