Archus - you are brilliant, I am so sorry I haven't been listening.
So I spoke to my friend who is very well recognized in the keto community. And he pretty much follows Dr Fung.
The jist essentially is this.
Fasting isn't the right tool for weight loss.
Intermittent fasting is.
What's the difference - you probably know this well, but I didn't.
So interpreting Dr Fung courtesy my friend:
24 hr fasting has an acronym OMAD. Its been put into a different category than IF.
IF as explained to me is anything over 24 hr but under 4 days.
4 days is a good cut off point because Dr Fung's observations point out a gradual decrease in metabolic rate after day 4. So you want to kick up the metabolism and not keep at it till it starts to decline.
However this maximizes the pain for me. I can go another 20 days at this point. Today is dry - but likely when I step out to work on my motorcycle I'd have to drink water after working in the sun.
I was going to fix up my bike a bit and take a long ride and not even worry about food for a month.
In a way It will be a bit easier on me to do a cleansing fast ending just as my wife gets back in august. Maybe I should eat every 4 days and pump up my metabolism and make a cleansing fast in ~3-4 weeks.
IMHO eating everyday is a chore. Eating well every day is an even bigger chore.
Fasting past day 4 is like sitting in an easy chair watching TV.
More conflict in my mind. But over the next 2-3 hrs I'll determine if I am going to heed my friends suggestion or keep up this awesome fast I got going.
Thanks.
Srinath.
