Mr5
Hey, everybody. New poster here. I've definitely been on a journey with my skin. I used to have really bad acne, but have managed to get it to a point where I almost never get even a pimple. I have sebborheic dermatitis and through different methods, mainly keeping my face clean (and washing my eyebrows with water in the morning) and using Selsun Blue regularly, I have no flaking or irritation most of the time and even forget I have the condition unless it flares up a bit during the summer.
Now, I'm tackling exfoliative cheilitis. I have anxiety and was a lip biter for many years. One day, after the dentist saw my lips, I was told to stop biting them. I stopped that same day and haven't bitten them since. However, that was when the exfoliative cheilitis made itself known. I would get thick crusts that would cycle constantly. If left alone, they would turn yellow. The primary method I used is the constant moisture therapy. I have noticed an improvement on my lips, still get peeling if I stop moisturizing, but not as raw and red as before and grooves have never disappeared.
My upper lip has really improved over time. I used to get this thick, rubbery wad of skin that would fall off every few days and now I get a couple of thin flakes maybe every ten days or so. My lower lip is a different story though. I can be out in public and manage with Unpetroleum jelly, but I'm ready for a cure.
The difficulty in treating this condition, as many of you know, is simply that it seems to be a symptom of many other conditions with many causes, ranging from physical trauma like me, to fungal infection, to Celiac's. So, suggestions. I want to go at least a month with either Calendula ointment, Bepanthen, or Lanolin. Which of these three should I try first? As I said, if I notice an improvement, I will stick with this method for at least a month, but possibly even 6 months or however long it takes cured or nearly so. Hope to have some good news in the coming months!
