I've broken the fast on the 32nd day and I think it was a very good decision. The amount of acid I've produced was already so much that it damaged the upper part of my stomach including my throat. After more than 10 hours I can still feel the effect of acid on my throat including other parts below between my throat and the entrance of my stomach. I'll see whether it improves in the next few days befor visiting a doc.
Since I had more acid than ever I ate 2 ripe small pears and a few large pieces of grape instead of reverting to juices. The pears were OKish but in case of the grapes I felt the
Sugar burning through my tounge and throat and in the next minute I felt it spreading in my body till hitting my head and making me literally numb. I never felt something like this before. Fruit, as I expected just amplified my acidity. I definitely don't need sugary stuff at this point. I'm mainly a veggie guy anyway.
Ten minutes later I falled back to the canned Spring vegetable soup I had to deal with my unbearable acidity, and ate it. Immediately reduced my acid, halved it, and had the sweetest 5 hour sleep. Then I ate the next canned vegetable soup and repeated the 5 hour sleep. I feel so much better, it's a hard to describe relief. bowel movements are ok. My belly likes the vegetable soup (not the watery one with hard vegetables, the one with dense juice and soft-cooked vegetables). Today I'm going to cook my own mixed veggie stuff and continue refeeding with some fruits (Apple, pear) and soft-boiled veggie soup. I have absolutely no zest for sugary fruit-only juices (as usual). I'll make some apple pear grape juice mixed with some veggie juice to make it less sugary.
This acid fighting week was one of the last things I expected at the end of my fast, it was one of the most terrible experience I had. People who constantly fight with gerd now have my sympathy and I hope I will never have to face acid again. I also hope it didn't do any permanent damage to the upper parts of my stomach.
So this is the end. It was 31 days. It could have been much more in my opinion without the adventure with acidity, I wasn't really hungry yet but the acid had to be managed somehow, just like the complete exhaustion caused by the acid induced nausea, sickness and sleeplessness+tiredness.
Thanks for the support and the good advices to everyone! It was really good to be able to write here sometimes instead of going through this boring period alone. Special thanks to DesertLily and Archus who were always here to reply.
