" ... I came up short in having enough data for this month and I don't know why. "
There is no single reason why but I know some of the reasons. #1 reason I know is the way the Internet is gradually being made more like MSM TV where the only interaction required by the user/viewr is pressing buttons on the remote control, otherwise the viewer just sits back and lets TV happen to them.
The ever modernized Internet equivalent is the way in which many web sites, mainstream and non, are forcing a cornucopia of content upon anyone who lands on the web site ... to me it is a special kind of assault to innundate anyone simply becaused they arrived at a given home page .... for which you may be tempted to just sit back and let it happen. In its origin, one of the truly rewarding aspects of the Internet experience was the way a given user was required to interact - think - so as to search, sort , sift and ultimately find the kind of information they were looking for in the first place and eithout being required to skim over a ton of superfluous crap content in the process. This value can still be had but decreasingly so and requires much mire effort. All this forced content that you are surrounded by makes it difficult to find whether or not what you were searching for is there ..... if it is there but crowded out by a lot of visual clutter, you may want to find a better web page.
Ive adopted a basic rule of thumb to help cut down on the data hit from all this forced content. If each of the headers in the search results list indicate links to matches, and I then click on any one of those apparent matches only to find that the matching content is not clearly present on the web page but there is a swamp of video and audio content, I usually bail out, go back to the search results and try to find a more credible web page. I also avoid web pages that milk this process by showing a bit of what you are searching for surrounded by crap and after you read the bit you have to click another link to get the rest and of course these other links display othet web pages full of different crap .... go back to search results and try to find a more credible web site .... not a perfect plan but does help in the monthly battle to conserve on unnecessary data download .
