Alkalinity of the water while fasting in my opinion is not an issue, in general, if the minerals are balanced. I suspected ppl who had negative experience with it while fasting, had a problem with the mineral imbalance in the alkaline water, which was man-made. I.e. probably few minerals are used and not in very sensible proportions. Unfortunately lab tests are needed to track the mineral content and with so many options and companies making it it is neither standardized nor reliable to even have the tests done, since content may vary depending on the machine settings or the life of the filters/minerals in the cartridge used.

Yes, I did have rather long post on water types and what to drink during a fast.

Since then I have tried water with added minerals and filtered tap water. I did not find any difference in my health or even feeling different. I did wind up with low potassium after that trial but I have no way to prove that Alkaline Water with added minerals did it. I use concentrace brand.

I believe that water which is nature made is the best thing to drink. May be we all need to move to Hunza valley, where they drink the glacial water which is high pH water and they all live very long lives.
