Having been using kefir for around 4 weeks now I've given up as I became very constipated. I've never suffered bowels problems before, nor developed hemorrhoids. Not wishing to miss out on the purported benefits of kefir I began fermenting it less (cut it down to 12 hours). I also drank far more water than I usually drink. No aid.
So like I say, I've given it up as a bad experiment, but I'm wondering if anyone else has suffered the same.
My diet is vegetarian, all home produced food no processed junk. So it's not like I have a lack of fibre.
For the kefir I was using full fat organic cows milk.
After stopping the kefir my bowel movements returned to normal after a few days and the hemorrhoids disappeared after around a week.
Can't find much info connecting kefir and constipation, but I can't see this as being a coincidence.
