From what I think I know about the pituitary and hypothalamus in the brain, is that they control everything and especially metabolism. Since they have a lot of work to do, they allow the thyroid to control the metabolism and regulate things like heart rate and blood pressure.
When the thyroid is
Iodine deficient, it slows the metabolism down and that is why many people gain weight and get run down as they grow older.
The perfect storm is this combined with all of the processed foods, GMO's, sugar, high fructose, etc..and environmental conditions such as stress over money, bills, exposure to toxins and bad metals etc..
From what I experienced adding
Iodine caused my thyroid to reset, which made the brain take over and bring things back to normal before the thyroid could takeover function again.
