Since you've narrowed down the trigger to food I would put my money on the fact that you're Gluten intolerant.
Nobody wants to hear it because everything they like to eat has some grains in it.
I had the same problem you have, lower back pain, joint pain in my right leg, nerve pain down my right leg and it all subsided when I got off grains. I drank a beer one day and I was reminded that beer is made from grains. Same with the Gin in my favorite Martini.

I do not eat wheat most of the time. I eat it perhaps once in 10 days or so.
I hope you are right. A lot depends on the degree with which you are intolerant.
Also I can tell you from my own experiences that you don't have to eat wheat if the food you eat is processed in the same facility that wheat is. So if you eat any processed food [Can- Jarred- packaged], it can have gluten. Also if you eat out instead of preparing your own food.
You have been made aware of this, so if the pain persists I suggest you get tested for gluten intolerance.
It just doesn't make sense that eating would only target your sciatica, and leg area.
Anyway, I hope you get better.
