I am posting this question as I have read this forum and it seems like there are others that MAY have the same issue I do. I see a lot of natural options but want to make sure that these are something that will work for my situation.
I had I biopsy about a year ago and was found that the open sores that were on my head were folliculitis decalvans. I have done some research on it and have found that folliculitis and folliculitis decalvans are very different.
For the past year I have been taking Rifampin, Dapsone and Clindamycin. The first treatment took it away within 30 days and it was gone for a month or 2. Then it started coming back and for the last 8-10 months I have taken it and it has never fully taken it away. It stops it from getting out of control. But I have a few small flare ups a month that leave just in time for the next small one.
I need other options as this is not working well. I was already balding and basically shave my head (use clippers with no extension) so I do not use shampoo.
If anyone has some advice on what has helped with their folliculitis decalvans, natural or Antibiotics , I am getting sick of having this!

This is a reply to # 2,247,192I was in the same situation but i leave the classic Antibiotic cure cause that debilitate my immunitary sistem, and it is absurd cause a good immunitary sistem is so important for fight that infection.
I presume that the biopsy tell you that you hace stpah aureus in your head pustols.
I try and still diong it, the kefir with milk, and that help me so much, dont solve totally the problem but help me to find a stable better situation.
You can find lot of infoes on the web about kefir, and if you need it for starting a production i can send to you for free...
Now i starting to use a combination of natural Antibiotics , gse tabs + garling tabs + tamneric tabs ... still dont know if will rn but for sure they dont kill my immunitary sistem like the Antibiotics did in the past.
I use also put calendula on my head, or thea tree oil, or ammunica gel...that can help my scalp when are under big attack.
I have a question for you, when you shaved your head do your situation improves?

This is a reply to # 2,247,290I have never heard of Keifer... I will have to look into it.
I had a biopsy, but they just told me it was Folliculitis Decalvans.
I have never been a super "all natural" person, but knowing that the Antibiotics are not going to cure it, it cant be good to be on them long term. I had to have blood work done to make sure my body could even handle them in the first place.
I have found a few tips on here and am planning on trying the more natural rout, I just hope they work for what I have and not just the general Folliculitis.
I have shaved my head for a few years now just cause I was balding, so I had it shaved before this started up a year ago or so. The time my hair grows out I have not seen a big difference, but I do not let it get too long. I also do not shave it with a razor, just cause I have sores on my head and I fear I will just cut the with a razor.
Im 30 yrs old and it just started, I hate it so bad, but reading forums, I am just lucky it took this long to start up.

This is a reply to # 2,247,340I'm 20 years down the folliculitis line, and have had to shave as necessary during bad flare ups.
When shaving with a blade, yes it will make some cuts, and quite a bit of blood at the beginning, but it's essential to use a blade, and clean with isopropyl alcohol wipes straight after.
Stings a bit, but it's a nice sting, knowing you're getting your scalp nice and clean.
Shaving with clippers / electric razor has NOWHERE NEAR the same effect, I can't emphasize that enough. And also the alcohol wipes are ESSENTIAL.
I also use Bathroom Wipes twice a day now, containing Benzalkonium Chloride 0.25g/100g, and my scalp is 100% clear.
All very cheap, and no meds.
This is my experience, just wanted to share it in case it's of any help.

Your folliculitis symptoms are really similar to mine.
I had scalp folliculitis since 19 now i am 22. i suffer Depression too. I strongly believe this folliculitis caused by extreme stress. Everyday i drink plain yogurt too because this reduce the inflammation and i noticed that in the morning my scalp looks better. How are you doing now? Did you cure it or still fighting? Sorry for my bad english
