Been having a difficult time with my CS maker lately, wondering if anyone has any ideas. Couple months ago (last time I used it) I made some gorgeous looking golden CS, by heating the water a bit first, using a dollop of previous batch for starter. Now... very strange, I'm getting what appears to be VERY strong CS with no golden color, with tendency towards grey/murky, lot's of black residue on the bottom. Im not very experienced with the adding of h202 but when I do, instead of it having a "clearing" effect, it immediately goes much darker, ending up dark brownish, not attractive at all... I have a feeling this is really strong stuff so imagine I need to cut way back on the time... but why won't it turn gold? I guess that isn't even really that desirable anyway, mostly curious why it's changed. Thanks!

This is a reply to # 2,246,7751. dont use additives, it's pointless and only complicates matters.
2. use only the purest distilled water you can find. Anything less will potentially react with the silver ions during processing.
3. clean, clean, clean... every component of your process needs to be cleaned and sanitized so as to avoid cross contamination.
4. do heat your water(98c and above). This will help move the oxygen out of your solution and promote the reduction of silver hydroxide into silver nanoparticles. Which will in turn, stabilize your solution.

This is a reply to # 2,246,849Got it sorted. Mainly I think the water I was using was too hot for the electrode spacing I was using. So lowered the temp and put more space between the electrodes and this batch turned out very nice. Crystal clear with a touch of gold color. Yeah I don't plan on putting the H202 in it, need to do some more reading on that subject. There's allot of disagreement on what's even the best type of "CS" anyway. Reduced particulate or ionic? Seems most of the actual results indicate that the straight ionic with no alterations at all works very well indeed, and possibly some of the "advanced" (expensive) CS might actually not? Thanks

As for heat, it does raise the conductivity, and so it's possible that you're electrodes were overloaded in terms of electrolytic processing. Keeping in mind that the total surface area is best maintained at/or aprox. 1mah per square inch of Silver anode.
As for the best, I personally believe this will vary based on application. ie, some conditions may response better to ionic solutions, whereas others such as myself, will yield better results from nanoparticles.

This is a reply to # 2,247,003Current control yes, commercially made machine with polarity switching, but no stirrer yet. Lately I've acquired an Ozone unit with medical grade O2, next time will put a tiny amount of the O2 into it as it cooks, slow drip style. Thanks
