I recently started making rejuvelac with organic wheat berries because probiotics are too expensive when you have to take massive quantities every day. It is so easy to make and my digestive tract feels like a million bucks since I began drinking it. And my stool has never looked better.
Take 1 cup of organic wheat berries and wash them thoroughly before soaking them overnight.
The following day remove the water and allow the berries to spout in a container that is ventilated or in a sprouting tray. I prefer a spouting tray.
You let the berries spout for 2-3 days or until the spout is as long as the berry. During the sprouting process, rinse three times per day and let them drain.
After 2 or 3 days, put them in a large glass jar and add 6 cups of filtered water. They say to stir the berries and water twice per day, but I just gently turn the bottle a few times to get them to agitate. After day 2 I strain the liquid in a sterile glass jar and refrigerate. You can make a second batch with the wheat berries by adding another 6 cups of water and letting them ferment for 2-3 days.
For some it may be an acquired taste. You can add fresh lemon juice, mint or ginger to heighten the flavor. Start out with 1/2 cup to see how your digestive tract responds. I drink at least a cup per day.
8oz of wheat berries = 12 cups of rejuvelac
28
oz pkg of wheat berries (3.5 cups) = 42 cups of rejuv at $3
I used to by PB8 for $12 for a 60 days supply. Rejuv costs half that amount and the amount of work is minimal.
