Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm a dog groomer and have picked up a parasite which has migrated to my muscles mainly in my legs. I have no idea what parasite I have. To try and treat it, I have been using a double dose of Mebendazole 200mg twice daily 12 hrs apart. I have had some improvement. I purchased a goat and sheep drench with the active ingredient Albendazole but have no idea how much to take. If some could please help me with a dosage I would be VERY thankful. I want this nightmare to end.
Active Constituents - 19 g/L
For sheep and goats it recommends 1m/kg live body weight

This is a reply to # 2,198,3363.5ml or 3/4tsp is = to 400mg of the 11.36% Albendazole - Valbazen sheep drench... and is the correct adult dose.

This is a reply to # 2,198,346I'm in Australa, the product I bought is called WSD Albendazole. It has no percentage listed. It does say active constituent 19g/L Albendazole. I wish I was good at Maths. I have know idea if 19g/L is 11.36%. Thank you for responding.- Re: Need help working out dosage of ... username7414

This is a reply to # 2,198,357I can't figure it out either. If there's 19g per liter, then at 400mg per dose, you should have 47.5 doses... A liter rounded down is 38 oz, so a dose would be .8oz or 23ml.
No... that can't be right.

1000ml = 1L
So /47.5 (400mg doses) is about 21ml.
That still seems like a lot!
You can always call the company too... say you have a pet that you need to administer 400mg to per vet's orders and need to figure out how many ml would = 400mg.

Dosage for the WSD brand of Albendazole Goat & Sheep Drench is 21.05ml, which is equivalent to a 400mg Albendazole tablet.

This goat/sheep drench has a lower percentage of the drug Albendazole compared to Valbazen cattle drench, which is banned in Australia. This is why the dosage amount is higher.
The ml/kg dosage charts on the labels of both types of drenches are calculated for rudimentary animals. Their digestive systems consist of several sectioned stomach/digestive chambers with different absorption rates versus humans.

This is a reply to # 2,198,676THANK YOU so much for the link to the Albendazole Drug Treatment Protocols and all the information that it contains. At least now I will not be blindly dosing myself like I have been doing with the Mebendazole since the 13th of March 14. Thank you for explaining how to get the correct dosage and why you cannot buy the Cattle Albendazole in Australia. I will post my result. Hoping this will be what ends my misery. Many Thanks
