FINDINGS
There are mild heterogeneity of the thyroid echotexture, without increased vascularity. There are multiple scattered small colloid cysts bilaterally, measuring 5mm or less in size.
IMPRESSION
Enlarged, mildly heterogenous thyroid gland with multiple scattered small bilateral colloid cysts. No suspicious nodule.

Taking Lugols/ SSKI for about 2 years. Recently at least 100mg Lugols and 1 gram SSKI a day.
I went in for antifungals. Dr thought thyroid issues instead for my issues. So I went along with the tests.
I started Iodine because of painful cysts all over my testicles, and Iodine alleviates this pain. Now come to find out I also have cysts on my thyroid.
Dr. wants me to stop Iodine intake for 1 month and to retest, because of the enlarged thyroid and cysts. I never really had thyroid tests done before, besides the basic TSH I believe (which was within range). I will go through my records when I get home and see if I have previous numbers to compare.
Who's not to say the iodine has prevented my thyroid from becoming more serious?

This is a reply to # 2,192,188IMO, this adds to the long list of others I know of that went to the doctors office.
Tests, more tests; but no real answers of anything. One leave the office more confused than ever. And with a considerably less confidence in oneselves.
Self treatment the way we do it at the forum may be tricky, but at least you are the one in charge.
I would, instead of interpret the tests search for alternatives, additions, alterations of what I was doing.
For alchohol damages / withdrawal; search lithium. Also large amounts of Iodine over time may need some lithium.
For cysts, Iodine is the thing, but maybe it need some help, like sulfur/msm and serrapeptase; to dissolve them.
There are answers out there. I doubt the doctor has them.

This is a reply to # 2,192,188everyone is way better off with Iodine than without.
you might consider some thyroid gland supplements. the bovine offering at nutrimeds is not likely to make you hyperthyroid and could deliver some needed nutrition. if you can, adrenal cortex and thymus is also worth adding. - Re: Thyroid labs and ultrasound resu... b3nault

This is a reply to # 2,192,188Went in for the actual follow up appointment, just reiterated what was said over the phone, that the Iodine is interferring with test results and to stop for a month and retest blood and ultrasound.
Previous #s: normal range but fluctuates
- TSH: 1.19 --- T4 Free: 1.2 (before iodine)
- TSH: 1.09 (before iodine)
- TSH: 3.808 (before iodine)
- TSH: 3.471 (several months after starting iodine, 2 years ago)
So my number are within range, Iodine is supposed to shrink thyroid if swollen and help with cysts, yet they want me to stop Iodine to retest. This seems like a ploy to push a Rx on me.
I should jump back to 5 grams SSKI /day for shits and giggles and see what happens to the lab numbers, thyroid size and cysts.
Gina: tried lithium, didn't get much help from it. Might need to try a different variety. Not long ago I got some Kala Namak, that smelly sulfur salt. I could give the MSM a go too.
Trapper: I have always wanted to try the glandulars. I think its a good idea to give it a try.

This is a reply to # 2,192,612He might be right, but that is a problem when you work with doctors. With my husband I was able when he changed back to Armour and had tests every 3 months to slowly up the drops, the interesting thing was they had to lower his Armour a couple of times. I always thought it was because of the Iodine but I can't proof it.
