I have been doing Liver Flushes once a month for over a year and my recent blood test shows a higher potassium level than "normal". My doctor wants me to have another blood test (she thinks there might be an error). I don't dare tell her that I've been doing Liver Flushes because she does not agree with homeopathic methods. Typical MD! Has anyone else had this happen after doing liver flushes? I am not taking any supplements or had any change in diet.

This is a reply to # 2,187,592You will not get an accurate blood test within a period of time following a liver-flush. The exact time to wait is dependant upon one's own metabolism but 4 weeks is recommended as the minimum time. A liver-flush usually has the effect to deplete the potassium balance temporarily and some people consume a potassium broth after the afterwards. Dr Richard Schulze has a potassium broth recipe.
If you have been taking supplements long term to dissolve stones these can also change the potassium level. Many supplements as well as healing our livers are diuretic leading to the loss of potassium.

This is a reply to # 2,187,663I don't understand Telman's response either, in light of the fact that your K levels are too high now. Whatever you do, don't tell the Dr. or anyone for that matter about your flushing. You'd be asking for trouble.

I once did a liverflush before a test.
Read later on Liverflush Evidence that you should not do it.
Every number was off, I needed B12 shots, because the B12 was 0. I took one shot but never went back for the rest. Never told them either that I had done the flush.

The main point I want to make is you don't get accurate blood test results when you are liver-flushing.
Second point; It is more common for the potassium level to drop with liver-flushing rather than being higher.
If you do get a high result for potassium it will be repeated. Blood left too long before testing or even shaken too much can give a high result. You should wait until you get it retested.

You should do it with any test. Then next time you see yourself the changes too. Plus
it always has more information than they tell you over the phone.
