Sucanat is crystallized cane juice. It is organic, uncooked and unrefined. I also like the taste much better than that of grade B Maple syrup. It is full of minerals, and does not raise insulin levels as quickly as refined sugar.
The Master Cleanse book mentions using cane juice for the cleanse, but also mentions it is not readily available in the States.
I am not trying to compete with the traditional Master Cleanse, I've done three 10+ day cleanses and numerous shorter ones. And, the last thing I want to do is cause conflict and confusion on this forum. However, sometimes a situation comes up where the by the book
Master-Cleanse may not be in the best interest for some people-like doing the
SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) with high blood pressure. I rarely mention my modified cleanse unless I feel it can help someone. Still, I have gotten the cleanse to a point where it is very beneficial for me, much more so than the original one. Other changes I have incorporated include using some apple cider vinegar as well as lemon, using cayenne tincture twice a day instead of stirring some ground pepper into every drink. I am also much more conservative about stimulant laxative use, even with herbal laxatives; and of course, no
SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) for me ever again.
Having said all that, I still believe in the Master Cleanse, I just think we can occasionally improve on it for our individual needs without compromising its effectiveness.
