I've done several juice fasts before & usually my gut settles almost immediately & remains that way for its entirety. This time it has been repeatedly troublesome, even painful at times & leaky.
I'm playing it a bit different by incorporating bone broths, chicken broths & fish broths too as I'm following some of the tenets of the GAPS diet. I'm also having coconut kefir water.
For the record I have CFS/ME & am also following the methylation protocol which I have maintained throughout the fast as well as my other supplements (I have always taken supplements during my fasts & they've never been an issue).
I had kinesiology to test for intolerances to histamine because I thought that could be an issue especially with the methylation protocol to boot but that came back fine. For chicken it came back bad though for the actual (chicken) broth. That said for the last two days I came off the chicken broth to see if that would make a difference - it hasn't. I also came back fine for coconut water. I forgot to test for potassium though so wondering if that could be an issue?
I take a powdered magnesium based formula at night too for insomnia & that contains trace amount of casein in it which I am intolerant too but it wasn't causing issues prior to the fast.
I'm a little peeved as I embarked on this to really try & repair my gut & it seems like I've even damaged it more. Any ideas on what could be troubling me?
