I also posted this in the Parasites:Rx Drugs Against parasites before I found the proper thread... We have a puppy that weighs 55lbs. We had him on trifexis that covered intestinal and heart worm and fleas but he kept throwing it up so he's off that now and we're looking into something else. The vet suggested heartgard but I see that's simply Ivermectin and Pyrantel. My question, can I just buy those two medicines separately in a suspension and give him the dose based on his weight each month instead of paying big bucks for Heartgard? And what do you guys recommend we add for flea control? Thanks!
I have not read the whole site yet but I did see you don't have the do it when it is the cold season. That is what I do. Also I don't do it every month but every 45 days. Somewhere in the R-rating is a post from someone who gave the different doses per weight of dog. If I can find it
back I will link it.
I put bagsy in the search box and found a lot of her posts. I found one about the heartworm but no mention of weight.
This is a whole thread about parasites, vaccination and heart worm. //www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1379261
Feeding Apple Cider Vinegar can act as flea prevention. It also acts as an immune system boost and can prevent sickness in the body.
For heartworm, there is an inexpensive natural treatment at PetAlive.com. It is called parasite Dr. and is supposed to eliminate all parasites from the body and prevent reinfestation. Hope that helps:)
I use garlic for pets and they also have it for horses. I don't know if it works since I never had pets with fleas.
I buy the garlic from http://springtimeinc.com
this is a new company for me, I found it 6 months ago.
