Hello,
I'm 39 years-old and have graves disease, which is overactive thyroid. I'm desperate to mend my health without having to resort to the radioactive
Iodine treatment that is recommended for me. I don't know which of my health symptoms are tied to the graves disease and which are not. Here's what I'm dealing with:
symptoms I think are related to the overactive thyroid:
high resting heart rate of 100 bpm
anxiety/nervousness/panic attacks
can eat a lot and not gain weight
insomnia
overwhelming fatigue
high liver enzymes
body temp is 100 degrees F (which I know can be normal but it's on the high side)
symptoms that may not be related to the thyroid:
candida on toenails and feet. Has been diagnosed as 'psoriasis" twice. don't have it anywhere else but a bit on my fingernails. If I soak my nails in bleach water, they get a little better but nothing really helps. Fungus has been ruled out but who knows?
fatigue after eating
food intolerances
feel terrible if I eat too many calories but need the calories to maintain my weight
My chest and stomach are constantly red after shower, even if the water isn't that hot
forgetfulness, problem-solving skills terrible
trying to get from one day to the next because I'm tired all the time
sugar intolerance
grain intolerance
burning feet after a high carb meal (my mom was diabetic)
Honestly, I could go on. I'm sorry for the self-indulgent post. If anyone has any advice at all, I will welcome it. I do drink green smoothies once a day but otherwise eat high protein/low grain when possible. The keto diet sounds like it would be the best for me but that's so depressing to only eat fat and protein. I have tried humaworm once; maybe I need to do it again?
I also get itching INSIDE my stomach so it's probably either candida or
parasites of some sort. I feel in my heart that I just have bad genes. My mom died two years ago at the age of 62. She had diabetes, was blind, and died of cancer. I did gene testing and my son and I both have her gene that predisposes us to late adult onset type 1 diabetes. Great. My mom also had graves disease like me but she didn't treat it because she had so many other issues.
If you made it through my novel, thank you. I would appreciate any and all advice and will take it all into consideration.
I've had terrible thoughts that maybe some of us are genetically weak when it comes to fighting off candida. What a terrible thought but part of me thinks it's true.
