I've seen that scaling around the hair follicle when it's healing but basically folliculitis looks like a SEVERE case of of Acne on the scalp. It usually starts as small pimples on the scalp and many think it's just scalp Acne that will eventually go away but it spreads. When the condition is healed and better each hair follicle should be healthy and separate from others and not clumped together.

You can post a picture but I would be reluctant to tell you the cause of your condition because I'm not a dermatologist and often folliculitis will look a little different with each individual. I would go to several dermatologists and get several opinions with skin biopsies. Don't tell the other dermatologists about each other until they each give you the results so you can then compare. Then either decide to start medications or alternative treatments like I and others have had success with using.

Thank you. I have been to 4 Derms and a hair specialistDERM IN bOSTON (Who I still own $$ to) over the past 2 years. I am pretty much done with them and dont have the insurance to see the good ones. I have had a biopsy and I am all set with ever doing another one as mine was a bad experience. I would like to have the puss from the Acne looking pimples to be checked out but I only get 1 of these on my scalp here and there. I think I have a mild case of this.
