The Swine Flu Pandemic

So.... we are having a PANDEMIC!
With the announcement by WHO that the swine flu (or H1N1 flu) is a pandemic many people are in a panic and looking for answers. In fact, in Argentina the health care system was essentially shut down by hordes of people rushing to the hospitals to find out if they had swine flu.
Every article in the media indicates something different; from how many cases there are worldwide; to how soon a vaccine will be ready for the general public, to when it is predicted to get worse (after all, WHO has DE CLAREd it unstoppable). Who and what are we supposed to believe?
First - what is the flu? Influenza (or flu) is a respiratory infection caused by any number of viruses. More than 200,000 people are hospitalized each year from the seasonal flu and about 36,000 die each year. Flu season happens during bad weather when people stay indoors and the therefore don't get the fresh air, exercise, or sunshine with its accompanying vitamin D production. In other words, we create a personal environment conducive for viral invasion.
Influenza becomes pandemic when many people are subjected to a weakened or polluted personal or communal environment. A pandemic is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads through populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide.
Here are a few examples of Pandemics you may have heard about:
The Plague - middle ages-1347 AD
The Spanish Flu - 1918
HIV/Aids virus - 1980's +
Swine Flu - 1976
Gulf War Syndrome -1990's

The pandemic of 1918 was devastating to the population at large. It is estimated that it killed 50-100 million people worldwide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandemic). However, there was one simple home remedy that was not only effective in curing people; it also prevented others from contracting it. What is that simple remedy? It is something that can be found anywhere in the world and is often overlooked by the medical profession. We can easily purchase it in any grocery store for under $1.00! Many of us already have it in our homes and use it in cooking but don't realize the medicinal qualities it contains. This easy home remedy is simply .........garlic.
How does it work? Garlic has over 28 sulphide compounds, one of which is created when garlic is crushed. The amino acid Alliin is in a compartment and the enzyme Allinase is in a separate compartment. The crushing combines these two ingredients and creates a new substance named Allicin. This smelly, unstable sulphide is more powerful than any Antibiotic and is potent in crushed fresh garlic. This super herb has appeared in close to 1,000 published papers and has been shown to kill bacteria in concentrations as low as 1 part extract in 50,000 parts water. The odor kills bacteria in Petri dishes at 20 centimeters distance and killed bacteria that were resistant to the Antibiotic chloramphenicol. Garlic is the only Antibiotic that also promotes healthy digestion and protects the body from toxins produced by the infection.
The best insurance in the world against the "predicted coming plagues" and "killing diseases" is to have the body in a good healthy condition. Disease germs are merely scavengers and can only live on toxins, mucous and residue from junk foods. They cannot and will not damage healthy cell structure. Therein lies the key! Have a healthy, clean body and disease germs will by-pass you - wanting nothing to do with your body, because it would be "obnoxiously clean" (in their language) and have no filth for them to live on.
If you do get sick, however, you should not be around other people. You should stay home and take care of yourself.
Avoid all animal products (especially dairy) and go on a liquid diet of fresh juices and plenty of distilled water and red raspberry tea. Make sure the bowels are moving so as to eliminate toxins quickly.
Next, lubricate the body liberally with garlic oil (fresh garlic pressed into olive oil) - especially the chest and soles of the feet. This is an easy way to take in a lot of garlic. You can get a recipe for onion soup on our website listed below.
One woman called because many at her work had been out with a flu that was lasting about two weeks. She came home from work feeling sick and called to see what she could do. She wasn't up to going to the store so I questioned her to see what she had in the house that she could use. I told her about this simple remedy which includes the juice from two apples, four stalks of celery, and one inch square of ginger. The Chinese have done studies that show that effectiveness of ginger in killing viruses. She drank this juice all day along with water. She also stayed down and rested. I am currently enrolled in a microbiology class at a local university. We began to study antiseptics, disinfectants and Antibiotics (antimicrobials) and
test them out on plates of bacteria grown on blood agar. We did common household disinfectant sprays, toothpaste, hand soap, bleach and a plate with
prescription Antibiotics . We weren’t studying natural antiseptics or disinfectants, so I asked permission to run the same test but with natural substances
on the side. The results were thrilling. On two plates of bacteria, one gram negative E. coli and one gram positive Staph. aureus I tested Dr.

When using garlic, knowing what it’s made of will help you to best harness its capacity. Garlic’s antibacterial/antiviral effects can be likened to epoxy.
For epoxy to work, you combine two substances to create a strong glue. With garlic, when you crush or injury it, the enzyme allinase is activated which
metabolizes alliin to allicin. Allicin is responsible for that powerful antibacterial and antiviral effect. When you cook garlic, this enzyme is destroyed.
To get the most of garlic, chop it up or score it well and let it sit for several minutes so that the enzyme has time to effect the alliin, then consume or
use it topically raw. Ajoene is derived from allicin which is reported to be as potent as aspirin in preventing sticky red platelets from clumping

(NaturalNews) Are you worried about the possible outbreak of the Avian Flu among humans? Perhaps you should be! I hope that all of the publicity about the Bird Flu proves to be a false alarm, as well as the theories that it may be a deliberately engineered flu, but I have to tell you that from what I have learned so far about the Avian Flu, regardless of where it may originate from, I think that the worst thing any of us could do is to ignore it and hope it goes away, because it may not and I shudder to think about it ever mutating to where it can be spread from human to human. Let's take a look at what we know so far about the Avian Flu:
First of all, the Avian Flu has not yet mutated and there is no need for panic, but there certainly is plenty of reasons for concern and a need to be vigilant, because the flu could easily mutate to one that is spread by humans -- and it is the very nature of viruses to mutate. We should also be mindful of the fact that the world is due for another outbreak of a widespread and dangerous influenza epidemic of the kind that appear to occur on a regular basis about every 30 years.
If the Avian Flu does mutate to a human flu and is even partially as deadly as some predict, the resulting worldwide pandemic could be an epic modern day plague that changes the world as we know it and makes HIV, 9/11, the great Tsunami and the destruction of New Orleans seem mild by comparison -- and there would likely be very little the world can do to prevent it. We can only hope that the next big worldwide influenza outbreak does not involve the current Avian Flu, or any other avian flu, because such flu would be a type that humans have not been exposed to and thus have no built-in resistance to. Owing to this lack of built in resistance, such an outbreak involving that kind of flu could prove to be uniquely horrific.
In a normal outbreak of influenza, the most vulnerable are usually the elderly, the very young, and those who are already ill or otherwise in a weakened state -- in other words, those whose immune systems are not strong enough to successfully ward off and fight illness. While a human version of the Avian Flu is likely to be every bit as deadly or more so for those who are the usual flu victims, unlike the usual varieties of influenza, the Avian Flu would actually be even more deadly for the group that is usually least affected by flu outbreaks: the most robust and healthy among us, the adults in the prime of life. That is because an avian flu like the Avian Flu turns the body's own immune system against itself and a strong immune system can become a deadly instrument of death as it over-reacts to a threat it has never been exposed to and releases a torrent of chemicals to combat the new threat which end up literally filling and eating up the lungs, suffocating what had been a strong and vigorous individual.
Such was exactly the case in a previous outbreak of another avian flu, one very similar to the Avian Flu. The Spanish Flu of 1918-19 was the most deadly epidemic in recorded history, killing 30 to 40 million or more people in one year –- more than were killed in any war including the Great World War, more than were killed in the 4 terrifying years of the Plague of Black Death (the Bubonic Plague) of 1347-1351, and more than were killed by HIV-AIDS in its first 25 years of existence. In the United States it infected 28% of all Americans, caused the deaths of at least 675,000 and in a single year was responsible for a 10 year drop in the life expectancy rate. In 1918, the death rate for influenza and pneumonia for 15 to 35 year olds was 20 times higher than in previous years.
Many authorities fear that if the modern day Avian Flu mutates to one that can be spread by humans, it could be an even more deadly flu than the one in 1918-19. Indeed, where humans have been exposed to infected birds and contracted the Avian Flu so far, the death rate appears to be significantly higher than it was for the deadly Spanish Flu.
The picture becomes truly staggering when you add to the expected high death rate the fact that the world population is now 2 1/2 times greater than it was in 1918-19 and not only is the population much larger, it is also much more concentrated with much more human interaction. And then you have the fact that, unlike the horse and buggy days of 1918-19, modern travel brings humans almost instantly to and from all points of the globe.
In all likelihood, only an immediate worldwide quarantine and shutdown of all travel would have a chance at stopping the spread of a worldwide pandemic, and that is something that is both unachievable and, at this point, unthinkable (although if the pandemic were to turn out to be as dire as some predict, such measures would probably be attempted out of desperation but would surely prove far too late to stop the spread of the disease). Given the woeful response to the destruction of New Orleans, and the shortage of flu shots caused by the loss of a single facility only last year, perhaps one can more easily understand the estimates of many authorities and scientific figures that forecast staggering death tolls, some as high as 300 million or more worldwide.
The world has largely forgotten the horrible death tolls of the Spanish Flu, as well as the plague-like conditions that led to quarantines, death wagons, corpses lying abandoned in public streets, and breakdowns of social order and lawlessness that broke out in many places around the world. For those of us who would like a reminder, I suggest a trip to an old cemetery and take a look at the tombstones and grave markers for the years 1918-19, see how many there are compared to other years and how many times you will find multiple deaths in the same family for those years. It was a horrible time, now largely forgotten and to a great deal overshadowed by the end of World War I, but it is a lesson for us all if only we will open our eyes and see.
Perhaps the nightmare scenario I have painted is merely the stuff of dreams, and I certainly hope that proves to be the case. But I strongly suggest that we all take steps to prepare for the worst, just in case. Better that than be like the old fellow on the side of Mount Saint Helens who ignored all the warning signs, disbelieved all the scientists and scoffed at the idea of a deadly eruption right up to the point that he was incinerated.
While there may be little the world's governments may be able to do to stop the spread of a truly horrible influenza pandemic, there are things that we all can do to help avoid catching such a flu and to fight it off if we do catch it. Common sense tells us to practice very good hygiene and to avoid exposure to those who are infected. If a vaccine is available, it is probably a better idea to take it than not - even though vaccines are likely to be in short supply, will likely be mere guesswork since the virus has yet to mutate to a form that can be spread by humans and is likely to continue to mutate once it does, and is likely to contain mercury due to the probable use of an agent called thimerosal that is used to sterilize flu vaccines.
Beyond those obvious measures, I have also compiled the following information for anyone who wishes to avoid and combat influenza:
Avoiding the Flu:
The good news is that you can take steps to help you avoid the Bird Flu or any other flu when it comes, and to survive it if you happen to catch it. Included in these steps are the things that you should do to protect yourself from virtually all diseases and illnesses: get plenty of rest, exercise, quit smoking, eat a nutritious diet, avoid stress and, above all, to make your body's natural first line of defense -- your immune system -- strong and robust.
Some of the very best immune boosters are:
* Echinacea
* Pau d’arco
* Suma
* Astragalus
* Medicinal mushrooms
* Beta glucans
* Aloe vera
* Alkygycerol
* Lactoferrin
* Bovine colostrums
* Glutathione
* Mangosteen
The next thing you should do is to also take one or more good natural anti-viral agents, especially if the Bird Flu does mutate and begin to spread from human to human, because unlike other illnesses or flues, the Bird Flu will use your own immune system to attack you. This is because we have never been exposed to a strain of flu like the Bird Flu and it is likely that biochemical cascade of immune cells and immune system bio-chemicals such as interferon, interleukin, monokines and cytokines will literally pour into the lungs and eat your lungs up. With the Bird Flu, it is essential to also include good natural anti-viral supplements along with immune boosters.
Among the very best natural pathogen destroyers are:
* Garlic
* Olive leaf extract
* Oil of wild mountain oregano
* Grapefruit seed extract
* Colloidal Silver
A third thing to do would be to take regular preventative doses of a natural remedy known as “Oleander Soup”, which can be made at home according to the instructions in the e-book “Cancer’s Natural Enemy” (written by the author of this article).
Oleander extract has been proven in clinical trials, decades of medical practice and literally centuries of use as a folk remedy to be a very strong immune booster and disease and illness preventer. It has also demonstrated strong anti-viral abilities in the way that it attacks and kills cancer cells, as well as its effectiveness against hepatitis-C and HIV.
The fourth thing you should do is endeavor to stop the spread of airborne viruses during the flu season:
* Protect yourself from others by gargling daily with 1 drop each of the essential oils of tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and lemon in a glass of warm water; stir well before each mouthful. Do not swallow.
* Mix a blend of essential oils to use in your diffuser or for use in steam inhalation.
Blend together:
1) ravensare - 3 parts
2) naiouli or eucalyptus - 1 part
3) lemon - 1 part
4) rosewood - 1 part
5) lavender - 1 part
Ravensare and naiouli have antiviral properties, while the other essential oils in the blend act as antiseptics while at the same time providing a wonderful aroma.
Diffuser Application - Add about 50 drops of the above blend to your diffuser at a time. Fumigate the house with oils to help prevent the spread of flu. Put 2-3 drops on a radiator to evaporate or add 10 drops of essential oils to a small plant spray filled with water. Spray the room frequently.
Natural Measures to Consider Should You Get the Flu
Hydrotherapy for Flu:
* Promote sweating by taking hot baths, hot foot-baths and other heat therapies. Keep the feet warm at all times during sickness and as a preventive measure. Low body temperature decreases resistance to viruses and bacteria, while heat burns up and destroys the virus.
* To warm feet, soak them for five to ten minutes in a hot mustard bath. Dissolve I tbsp. mustard powder in 4 cups of hot water.
* A hot bath followed by a cold mitten friction rub, two to four times a day, loosens congestion, improves circulation and strengthens the immune system, speeding healing from the flu.
* To do a cold mitten friction rub, proceed as follows: Dip a small towel or washcloth into cold (50° to 60°F) water. Curl one hand into a fist and wrap the cloth around it. Use your fist to rub your other arm in a vigorous circular motion, beginning with the fingers and finishing at the shoulder. Dip the cloth in the cold water again and repeat. Your skin should be pink. Dry your arm with a towel using the same vigorous circular movement. Repeat the process on your other arm and on your legs, feet, chest and abdomen.
Juice Therapy for Flu:
* Apple and dark grape juices are often recommended for those fighting the flu. They have properties that work against congestion and runny nose. Dark grape juice is rich in tannins, substances that have been shown to kill viruses under laboratory conditions.
* Dilute the juices if they are too sweet. Drink them at room temperature. Pear, cranberry and, especially, pomegranate juices are also helpful for combating flu.
Naturopathy for Flu:
* Hot Bath
* Add 30-60 ml (2-4 tbsp) of Epsom Salts to hot water and take a hot bath. After the bath, go straight to bed.
* Vitamins - As soon as the symptoms of flu start, take high levels of Vitamin C to boost the immune system, around 3,000-4,000 mg to start with, reducing over 3-4 days to 500 mg until you feel completely better.
* Diet - Drink fruit juices until the fever has passed.
* Now eat plenty of fruit, vegetables and whole grains.
* Cold Compress - If very hot and sweaty, try applying a cool compress to the chest and trunk.
Aromatherapy for Flu/Colds:
* Steam Inhalation - Mix a blend of essential oils to use in your diffuser or for use in steam inhalation.
Blend together:
1) ravensare - 3 parts
2) naiouli or eucalyptus - 1 part
3) lemon - 1 part
4) rosewood - 1 part
5) lavender - 1 part
Add six to eight drops of the above blend to a bowl of just-boiled water. Place a towel over your head and inhale. Repeat this treatment two or three times a day, if necessary.
Several oils have considerable anti-viral activity, and help to boost the immune system. For maximum effectiveness, it is important that you use them at the earliest sign of influenza or in some cases before contracting cold/flu to boost your immune system as a preventative.
Essential oils of basil, eucalyptus, peppermint, and pine help to ease nasal congestion. Choose one to three of these oils and use them as inhalants or in steam inhalation treatments. For chest congestion, a steam inhalation treatment made with basil, pine, and/ or tea tree oil can help to clear mucus and ease breathing. Rubbing a massage oil prepared with these oils over the chest may also be helpful.
An aromatherapy bath prepared with elemi, myrrh, pine, and/ or tea tree oil can help to soothe achy feelings all over your body that accompany flu. Use a lukewarm bath for fever, a hot bath for chills.
* For chills:
1) Add 3 drops of rosemary and 3 drops of ginger or black pepper essential oils to your bath.
2) Mix 5 drops of ravensare and 15 drops of rosewood in ½ ounce of carrier oil such as olive or almond. This makes an energizing massage oil blend.
Other Essential Oils Useful for Flu:
* Tea Tree oil
* Eucalyptus oil
* Lemon oil
* Lavender oil
If you come down with the flu, add 10 to 20 drops of tea tree to hot water and take a hot bath. This may help your immune system fight the viral infection and ease your symptoms. Use a pure, unadulterated form of tea tree oil; adulterated forms can be irritating to the skin.
To help alleviate and disinfect dry air passages, add 10 drops of tea tree oil to a bowl of hot water or vaporizer and leave in your bedroom overnight. A small handkerchief sprinkled with a few drops of the oil and left under the pillow may help as well.
Caution: Do Not Overdo it! Prolonged inhalation of essential oils can cause an enlarged liver.
If you have a congested nose or chest, add a few drops of essential oils of eucalyptus globulus (E. globulus) or peppermint (Mentha piperita) to a steam vaporizer.
Caution: If you are asthmatic, be cautious the first time you try this; if you have not been exposed to essential oils before, inhaling the vapor may actually precipitate an attack.
Ayurvedic Remedies for Flu
Ayurvedic practitioners recommend the following strategies to combat flu:
* At the first sign of the flu, switch to a bland diet. Eat soft-cooked rice (rice that has a very soft, moist texture created by a longer cooking time with more water) with a pinch of cumin, ginger powder and turmeric for seasoning. In India, broken rice is used for this purpose with generous amounts of water so that we will get a soup in the end. The ginger and cumin heat up your body, so you can sweat out toxins. Turmeric has Antibiotic and antiseptic qualities. You can also add few cloves of garlic cut into small pieces to the mixture as garlic is very good for flu.
* To ease the congestion that can accompany the flu:
1) ½ teaspoon sitopaladi powder
2) ½ teaspoon sudarshan
3) ½ teaspoon of honey
Mix the ingredients well. Take a teaspoonful of this mixture every few hours. Your symptoms will disappear quickly.
* For Severe Flu Symptoms - Take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for 3 days. This process will cure most chronic coughs, colds and clear the sinuses. A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural ingredient which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.
* Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.
Herbal Remedies:
Herbal remedies cannot cure a cold or flu. But they can bring relief of symptoms, stimulate the immune system and speed recovery. Here are several herbal remedies useful for colds and flu.
* Corn starch, water and lemon. Mix together in a cup. One cup should be enough.
* Water, lemons, cinnamon sticks and honey. Put a gallon of water in a large pot on the stove. Add four lemons, cut in quarters, and two sticks of cinnamon. Bring water to a full boil and then let steep for five or more minutes. Drink one cup several times a day if you are able to stay home and rest and one or two cups at night, otherwise just drink at night. Best taken at the beginning of flu symptoms. This remedy should help you sweat out the flu, help ease any sore throat you may have and also keep you hydrated.
* Tea, lemon, orange juice and brandy. Works like a charm. Just make a cup of tea, squeeze half a lemon and half an orange into the tea and put two teaspoons of brandy and you should feel much better soon.
* One garlic clove and a sharp knife. Cut raw garlic as thin as possible and put the garlic slices on your tongue. Do not chew, just place on the tongue and then swallow. Best when taken at the first signs of flu symptoms.
* Eucalyptus, burnt sugar, lemon and water. Boil the water and add eucalyptus, burnt sugar, lemon juice and/or lemon rind, and continue to boil for five minutes. Drink the tea hot, preferably just before going to bed.
* Colloidal Silver . A half teaspoon of Colloidal Silver for children and a teaspoon for adults can be swallowed to ease or eliminate flu symptoms. If you take colloidal silver regularly, you may never get the flu.
* At the first sign of a flu, put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into each ear, one ear at a time. Keep the solution in for 10 minutes or until the bubbling stops. Your temperature should start dropping within minutes, and your flu should be gone within 12 to 14 hours.
* Goldenseal tea. Use goldenseal tea bags (not pills or capsules) to make tea. Drink a cup before bed (sweeten with honey or Stevia if desired).
* Herbal Fever Remedy
1) 1 ounce dried Elder Flowers
2) 1 ounce dried Peppermint Leaves
3) ½ pint distilled water
Mix the herbs. Place in a quart saucepan. Pour 1/2 pints of distilled boiling water over it. Cover and allow to steep in a hot place for 10 to 15 minutes (do not boil). When ready, strain into another saucepan. Sweeten with honey if desired. This remedy drops high temperature associated with flu quite effectively. In some cases, the temperature has been reduced from 104 to 99 degrees within two hours! According to Dr. Edward E. Shook, well known herbalist, "there is no remedy for colds and fevers of any description equal to this simple life-saving formula."
* Psyllium - Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum) Flu Remedy: This remedy is useful for flu as well as for backaches and headaches.
* Peppermint-Rosemary-Elder Flu Remedy: This remedy is good for colds with flu Symptoms.
* Echinacea and goldenseal stimulate the immune system. Goldenseal also helps to soothe mucous membranes. Add 10-15 drops of a combination of echinacea and goldenseal to herbal teas at the first sign of a sniffle to boost the immune system. Take one dose of an echinacea and goldenseal combination remedy supplying 250 to 500 milligrams of echinacea and 150 to 300 milligrams of goldenseal three times daily for five days.
* An infusion of boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum) may relieve aches and fever and clear congestion:
Simmer 1 cup boiling water with 2 tsp of the herb for 10 to 15 minutes; drink a cupful every hour, as hot as you can stand it.
* A comforting herbal tea may be made from an infusion of equal measures of elderflowers, peppermint and hyssop. Caution: Take only small doses of hyssop (no more than 1-2g three times daily).
* To combat chills, try taking 30 drops of yarrow (Achillea millefolium) or elder (Sambucus nigra) flower tincture every four hours until your chills are gone.
* Use a warming tea made of Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), Cayenne (Capsicum minimum) and ground Ginger (Zingiber officinalis).
* To help yourself rest and relax, take a cup of chamomile tea twice a day.
* Use inhalations of chamomile, eucalyptus or thyme. These help loosen mucus and heal the throat, nasal passages and bronchial tubes.
* Horsetail inhalations reduce swelling of mucous membranes.
* At the first sign of the flu, begin taking the Chinese botanical formula Yin Qiao (this remedy usually is not helpful after the third day of symptoms). Take two or three tablets three times a day, up to twelve tablets in a twenty four hour period, during the acute phase of the flu. After the symptoms start to ease, reduce the dosage to one tablet three times daily for one week.
* In a 1995 Israeli study, elderberry extract was found to reduce both the severity of symptoms and the duration of flu (two to three days in the treated group versus six days in the placebo group). Choose an extract standardized to contain 5 percent total flavonoids and take 500 milligrams twice daily.
* Garlic helps to detoxify the body. Take 500 milligrams (or one clove) three times a day for up to five days.
* Take ginger tea. Ginger tea is antiviral and helps break up the mucus and congestion. Ginger tea is excellent if the stomach is affected. To make the tea, boil 2 tablespoons of grated fresh ginger in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes, then remove from the heat and steep for 10 minutes. Take a cup as needed.
* Onion or nasturtium inhalations disinfect.
* Ginkgo biloba leaf inhalations kill bacteria and heal the cells of the damaged mucous membranes almost immediately.
* Inhale steam for fifteen minutes three times daily in acute stage. When the condition is improving, inhale steam in the evening before retiring for a week or so to help heal the bronchial passages.
* When feeling more feverish, induce sweating by taking infusions of Catmint (Nepeta cataria) and/or Elderflower (Sambucus nigra).

* Gargle regularly with sage tea to disinfect mouth, and use sage inhalations to reduce inflammation.
* Wash body with an infusion of thyme or juniper needles.
* If you are suffering from muscular aching, use an infusion of Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum) alone, or in combination with Catmint (Nepeta cataria) and/or Elderflower (Sambucus nigra).
* Chinese Herbal Formula for Flu - Gan Mao Dan (Common Cold and Flu Pills). This remedy expels Wind-Heat, reduces fever, relieves chest congestion, and stops cough.
This formulas is good for these symptoms:
Cough, Fatigue, Fever with slight chills, Headache, Nausea, Red eyes, Runny nose, Skin rash, Sore throat
Ingredients: Lonicera Flower (Flos Lonicerae), Forsythia Fruit (Fructus Forsythiae), Gardenia Fruit (Fructus Gardeniae), Phragmites Rhizome (Rhi-zoma Phragmites), Red Peony Root (Radix Paeonia Rubra), Wooly Grass Rhizome (Rhizoma Imperatae Cylindricae), Soja Seed (Semen Sojae Praeparatum), Mentha Herb (Herba Menthae), Morus Leaf (Herba Mori), Schizonepeta Herb (Herba Schizonepetae), Aster Root (Radix Asteris Tatarici), Platycodon Root (Radix Platycodi), Citrus Peel (pericarpium Citri Reticulatae)
Dosage: 20 pills twice a day.
Important Herbs for Flu:
* Echinacea - Echinacea has been a traditional favorite for colds and flu. Double blind studies in Germany have shown that infections with flu-like symptoms clear more rapidly when taking echinacea. Echinacea appears to work by stimulating the immune system. Taking 3–5 ml of tincture or 300 mg of dried root powder three times per day is usually recommended.
* Elderberry - Elderberry is another herb that has been used in treating flu. This herb contains two compounds that are active against flu viruses. It also prevents the virus from invading respiratory tract cells. A patented Israeli drug (Sambucol) that contains elderberry is active against various strains of viruses. In a clinical trial testing Sambucol, twenty percent of flu sufferers who used it showed significant relief of fever, muscle aches and other symptoms within 24 hours, and another 73 percent felt better after the second day. In three days, 90 percent were reported completely cured. In a similar group that received an inactive treatment (a placebo), only 26 percent were improved in two days, and it took most of them six days to feel well again. Sambucol also stimulates the immune system and has shown some activity in preliminary trials against other viruses, such as Epstein-Barr, herpes and even HIV. In a small double blind trial, patients with influenza were found to recover three times faster when they took one capsule of elderberry extract four times daily compared to patients taking placebo.
You can take the medication or take the herb by making a tea from the herb: Make elderberry-flower tea by steeping 3 to 5 g of dried flowers in one cup of boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes. Take 1 cup of this tea 3 times daily. Elderberry flower is generally regarded as safe. Side effects are rare and consist primarily of occasional mild gastrointestinal distress or allergic reactions. Its safety in young children, pregnant or nursing women, or those with severe liver or kidney disease is not established.
* Astragalus - Astragalus root has been used to enhance immunity for thousands of years in China. This herb is considered by herbal practitioners to be a tonic that strengthens the body’s resistance to disease. Astragalus can stimulate practically all of the processes of your immune system. It increases the number of stem cells in bone marrow and speeds their growth into active immune cells. Astragalus also may help boost levels of interferon, one of your body’s potent fighters against viruses. This, in turn, can help prevent or shorten the duration of colds and flu. Astragalus also boosts the production of white blood cells called macrophages, whose function is to destroy invading viruses and bacteria. As soon as you discover the flu, take one 500- milligram capsule of astragalus four times a day until symptoms disappear. Then take one capsule twice a day for seven days to prevent a relapse.
* Garlic - Garlic is known to kill influenza virus in test tubes. It also stimulates the immune system and wards off complications such as bronchitis. Garlic contains several helpful compounds, including allicin, one of the plant kingdom's most potent, broad-spectrum Antibiotics . This herb's aromatic compounds are readily released from the lungs and respiratory tract, putting garlic's active ingredients right where they can be most effective against cold viruses. Holistic practitioners often recommend taking several cloves of raw garlic per day during an infection. You can also take aged garlic extract, or consume products such as hot garlic bread or toast.
* Asian ginseng (eleuthero) - Asian ginseng has immune-enhancing properties, which play a potential role in preventing infection with influenza. Boneset has been shown in test tube and other studies to stimulate immune cell function. This may explain boneset’s traditional use to help fight off minor viral infections, such as the flu.
* Wild Indigo - Wild indigo contains polysaccharides and proteins that are believed to stimulate the immune system. It is used traditionally to fight the flu in combination with herbs such as echinacea, goldenseal, or thuja.
* Forsythia and honeysuckle - These herbs are used by Oriental Medicine practitioners to treat colds, flu and other viruses. They have real antiviral benefits. At the inception of cold or flu, mix honeysuckle and forsythia with lemon balm tea (lemon balm also has antiviral properties.) Take this tea before going to bed.
* Mullein - A tea made with mullein flowers provides throat-soothing mucilage and also has an expectorant effect. Herbalists think that this plant contains compounds that inhibit flu viruses. You can also make a tea with mullein leaf.
Other Herbs:
* Bayberry
* Boneset
* Calendula
* Ginger
* Goldenseal
* Lemon balm
* Oregon grape
* Thyme
Nutrition for Flu:
* If you don't feel like eating, do not force yourself. For a day or two, consume only liquids -- water, juices, teas, and soups. Digesting liquids require a lot less energy than digesting foods. This means that your body has more energy to fight the flu.
* Consume easily digested foods such as juices, lemonade (hot or cold), herbal teas, applesauce, and lots of nourishing broth and homemade soups. Miso and chicken soup are good choices.
* Take mushroom soup. Mushrooms of choice include shiitake, maitake, and reishi mushrooms. They are shown in studies to boost the body's immune response.
* Getting plenty of fluids, including soups, is particularly important. Drink at least six to eight glasses of liquid daily. Fluids help to thin secretions, making it easier for the body to clear them, and also help to prevent constipation and flush toxins from the body.
* Sick People Soup - Here is a great soup to take when you are down with cold and flu. It comes from Rosita Arvigo, author of "Rainforest Home Remedies."
1) 1/2 head cabbage, chopped
2) 1 onion, chopped
3) 1 head garlic, chopped
4) 3 carrots, sliced
5) 3 pieces celery, diced
6) 6 Tbsp ginger, grated
7) ¼ c miso (soybean paste)
8) 2 qts water
9) juice of 1 lemon or lime
Boil the vegetables in the water until tender (about thirty minutes), then add ginger and garlic and allow to boil another five minutes. Remove from heat. Take a bit of the hot soup from the pot and mix with the miso to form a thick liquid. Add to the soup and serve. Squeeze a bit of fresh lime juice into the bowl. For added health boosts, add sliced agaricus, reishi, shiitake or maitake mushrooms to the boiling vegetables and sprinkle crushed garlic on the soup before serving.
* When there is fever, take liquids only.
* Recommended liquids: Warm broth, vegetable juices and herb teas.
* Avoid dairy products and sugar. They increase and thicken mucus. Avoid a milky drink at night if you have chest problems, since this can contribute to congestion of the chest by morning.
* Red beet juice makes the flu virus inactive.
* Condensed grape juice strengthens the heart muscles.
* Parsley, celery, watercress, garlic, lemon, carrot and coconut juices are nourishing and help to cleanse and promote healing.
* Drink fruit juices after diluting. Limit the intake of sugars.
* Increase the proportion of vitamin C-rich foods in the diet, such as tomatoes, raw green peppers, carrots, strawberries and citrus fruit. This vitamin is easily destroyed by the process of oxidation, so do not leave peeled, chopped fruit or vegetables to stand for a long time before eating. Overcooking also leads to loss of vitamin C, especially if fruit or vegetables are boiled. Vegetables and fruit are best eaten raw, and if vegetables must be cooked, steam them, which preserves essential nutrients.
* Eat fresh, raw fruit and vegetables, whole grains, garlic, pulses, beans, small helpings of fish, nuts and seeds. These foods appear to increase resistance to infection and improve vitality.
* Use unrefined, cold-pressed flax seed oil as a salad dressing. Flax seed oil is an excellent source of the omega-3 essential fatty acid and also contains the omega-6 essential fatty acid. These fats help strengthen cell membranes, thereby speeding healing and strengthening resistance to infection. In the body.
* Eat sea plants or algae. These can re-mineralize the body after overexposure to processed foods. Spirulina, alfalfa, chlorella or seaweeds can be added to soups or juices in powder or capsule form.
* Garlic can also help ward off a cold by inhibiting the growth of staphylococcus and streptococcus bacteria.
* Avoid food and drinks that put extra strain on the liver. The liver is responsible for efficient detoxification of the body. The foods to avoid include convenience foods containing substantial amounts of chemicals such as colorings and preservatives , and alcohol, which also depletes the body of vitamin C.
Nutritional Supplements:
* Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Bioflavonoids - Vitamin C is well-known for treating and preventing colds. Studies show that vitamin C can shorten the duration of common colds and flu and even prevent them. Taken in large enough doses, vitamin C can boost your immune system by pumping enough fuel into white blood cells to destroy invading viruses and bacteria. Vitamin C increases interferon levels and has interferon-like properties itself. It acts as a natural antihistamine that helps dry up watery eyes and reduce nasal and chest congestion. It is also a powerful antioxidant that can help prevent the damage that your body endures when viruses or bacteria attack your immune system. Dockworkers given 100 mg of vitamin C each day for ten months caught influenza 28% less than their coworkers not taking vitamins. Moreover, the average infection was 10% shorter in those taking vitamin C. Other studies have reported that vitamin C in high doses (2 grams every hour for twelve hours) can lead to rapid improvement of influenza infections.
* At the first sign of cold or flu symptoms, take 500 milligrams of vitamin C with bioflavonoids or rose hips four to six times a day. The bioflavonoids and rose hips strengthen the vitamin C’s infection-fighting power by 35 percent, according to experts. Start taking Vitamin C as soon as you can. There are no adverse effects from taking high dosages of vitamin C. If you experience diarrhea, reduce the dosage of Vitamin C. Use bioflavonoids along with vitamin C for their synergistic effect.
* Vitamin A is a nutrient vital to the mucous membranes throughout the respiratory system during a cold or flu. It is known as the anti-infection vitamin. It battles viruses and bacteria in two ways. By keeping the cells healthy all along your respiratory tract, it provides a barrier that resists microorganisms. If some invading microorganisms manage to breach the barrier, you want to have antibodies and lymphocytes ready to destroy them. Vitamin A helps your body provide those reinforcements.
As soon as you notice cold or flu symptoms, take 100,000 international units (IU) of vitamin A daily for three days, then reduce the dosage to 25,000 IU for one week or until symptoms disappear.
Caution: These are very high doses, please check with your doctor before taking this much.
* Beta-carotene, Vitamin A’s precursor, is rich in antioxidant power and antiviral properties. It bolsters immunity and protects the thymus gland. It also protects you from viruses by enhancing mucous membrane secretions. By producing the secretions, the beta-carotene prevents the virus from invading your body. If you feel a cold or flu coming on, take 100,000 IU of beta-carotene for 10 to 14 days, then cut the dosage to 50,000 IU a day to prevent future respiratory infections.
* Zinc - Zinc supplementation is recommended for immune system support. Zinc lozenges soothe a sore throat and help fend off a cold before it takes hold. Zinc stimulates the immune system by generating new white blood cells and whipping them into shape to battle viruses. If you have too little zinc, your production of white blood cells may drop, and that can increase your risk of catching a cold, flu, or other upper respiratory infection. In one study, children who got 10 milligrams of zinc daily for 60 days were much less likely to get respiratory infections than children getting less. In fact, the children who got enough zinc were 70 percent less likely to have fevers, 48 percent less likely to have coughs, and 28 percent less likely to have mucus buildup.
* Take 5 to 10 milligrams of zinc five times daily for five days to one week. Take zinc with food to prevent stomach upset. Be careful not to consume too much zinc. Doctors recommend taking no more than 15 milligrams of zinc a day. Zinc gluconate in lozenge form has been found to shorten the duration of cold symptoms. In a study, participants who sucked on one zinc gluconate lozenge (containing about 13 milligrams of zinc) every two hours while awake got rid of their coughs, nasal congestion, sore throat, and headaches three to four days sooner than those who didn’t get any supplementation. Don’t take them for longer than one week, because they can weaken your immune system.
* Garlic - Garlic is very beneficial especially at the beginning of a cold of flu. It warms the body and acts as an antiviral and antibacterial.
* Thymus glandular extract boosts immune function by increasing the number and activity of infection-fighting white blood cells. Take 250 to 500 milligrams twice a day. This is especially important for people over forty, as thymus function declines with age.
Recommended dosages:
- Vitamin C, with bioflavonoids, 1,000 mg every few hours throughout the day, up to bowel tolerance
- Zinc lozenges, with 3 mg copper, every few hours, up to 70 mg daily during a cold and 30 mg daily as a preventive.
- Garlic, 2 capsules three times daily

Jon: Now, I mentioned Echinacea, it’s a great one. A lot of people are not aware, but good herbalists can identify 100 or 1000 or 1500 herbs by taste or smell. They can tell you how strong they are. It’s like, there’s no machine yet that can match the pallet of a wine expert. No machine can match the taste and smell of a good herbalist. I can do maybe 100, 200 herbs. I’m not even close to 1000 or 1500. Echinacea though is a simple one. Every herb has what’s called a signature characteristic. If you have two bags of peppermint tea and you brewed pots up and one of them tasted like dish water and the other had a really nice strong, crisp peppermint taste, anyone would go, "oh
that’s good peppermint and that stuff stinks". And they would be absolutely right. The signature characteristic of peppermint is the peppermint taste.
The signature characteristic of Echinacea is that it numbs and tingles the mouth. The more it doesn’t, the stronger it is. You can run tests on the active ingredients of the ones that don't and it will verify that they are far stronger than the ones that numb and tingle stronger. I’ve gone to health food stores and bought 30 brands of Echinacea, tested them and actually when I did this 10 years ago I found only one that had any activity at all. 29 of them, the only Echinacea of value was the word that was on the label. There was nothing inside.
Kevin: Really.
Jon: Yeah, they could have been using Echinacea but it was of such low grade that it had no impact.
Kevin: So, let me get this straight again. It numbs.
Jon: And tingles the mouth. You take Echinacea tincture and you squirt it in your mouth, two droppers. Take two droppers and swish it around in your mouth for about 15 seconds and swallow it and you should find your mouth numbing and tingling and actually saliva should be flowing and if it’s really strong, it will actually start to make you gag in your throat, because your throat starts to catch. The more it doesn’t, the stronger that Echinacea is. The one thing we could do
very easily is if we took the same stuff and we would brew it in two ways and one of them is if we used good quality Echinacea and the first one would numb and tingle your mouth and would blow people away. In fact, I actually use to walk around with three bottles. One that I bought at the store, a commercial Echinacea that had virtually no activity but was a very popular brand, to the one we created using a higher quality herb which is about three or four times stronger than that and then that same herb brewed the new way with the new technique that we had and we’ve since measured it and it’s a 100% stronger.
Kevin: Wow.
Jon: Yeah and actually what would happen is I did it once in a large scale demo. I will never do it again because people started gagging all over. Their throat started seizing up it was so strong. So we had a few go, ugh, ugh, ugh – several hundred of them.
Kevin: So I imagine that the value in terms of price is –- I mean, you go to get these tinctures, they’re fairly expensive regardless, so it would make sense if it is any extra money, is it
extra money to get...
Jon: You know actually, it isn’t extra money because you actually get more bioactive ingredients out. You’re actually making stronger stuff. You actually use less of the good herb than you would otherwise. Actually, the process lowers the cost so what you are doing and what you’re paying for is still the quality of the herb but the process actually makes the cost a little less for us because we get more high quality tincture out of a slightly less herb, because it does so much better. Also, one of the things I mentioned, you have water and alcohol as the solvents making the
tincture. That still leaves behind anything that is oil soluble and we found a way that we
can use that process to also pull out the oil soluble bio-chemicals.
Kevin: Oh, that’s cool.
Jon: Yeah, which makes it even stronger, but you use good quality herbs, good quality Echinacea –- we have one formula, an antipathogen formula. It’s not even a tincture actually. It’s a pressing of garlic and horse radish and habanera and things like that and it’s got liquid zinc in it, grapefruit extract, olive leaf extract.
Kevin: Wow.
Jon: It’s an antipathogen formula that was so strong we actually were contacted by people in the government who wanted us to send them some 100 bottles and we did. It was tested for bird flu,
Ebola, small pox, anthrax. It went to the Department of Defense, U.S. Army, Walter Reid Medical Hospital and an agency that I’m not suppose to mention but they’re all initialed and we were told that it passed all their tests.
Kevin: Are you serious?
Jon: And they sent it out. We were told it was going to an outside lab for verification and we wouldn’t hear from them again unless it failed the test. That’s the last we heard so I don’t know.
Kevin: Wow.
Jon: But we know it works and for colds and flus like that. That’s actually a topic worth discussing on why Antibiotics and antivirals don’t work and why natural substances do.
Kevin: Yeah. That’s very important.
Jon: The problem is that when you take an Antibiotic and an antiviral, you’re actually breeding super bugs. It’s very simple. When you take an antibiotic, anything that survives it, by definition
is one that has a resistance to that Antibiotic or antiviral.
Kevin: Sure.
Jon: So what you’ve left now is a pool of those that have a resistance. They breed, they duplicate and you’re actually sort of breeding bacteria and viruses that are immune to the Antibiotics and then it turns out they have the ability to pass that immunity onto other species, they’ve found.
So if you get immunity going like in a staph, the next thing you know, all bacteria has that resistance. That’s why antibiotics are a problem; well, one reason. The other is they are one dimensional. They kill bacteria in one way. They either, like some, will break the cell wall open. Others will work and stop the energy production, the mitochondria of the cells, but it’s one thing
that that Antibiotic does so it makes it very easy for bacteria to build a resistance.
There are now bacteria, for example, that have protection on the cellular wall against the antibiotics. So when it’s a one dimensional pack, it makes it very easy for these very primal structures, which reproduce rapidly in a matter of weeks, viruses in just a few
weeks, bacteria in 12 months, or six months to maybe a year and a half, can start to develop a resistance and pass it around.
Even natural substances -- take garlic -- we use garlic in ours. We use 30 cloves crushed so you have the juice of 30 cloves in one bottle and it smells it, but garlic has over a hundred substances in it that are known to be antibiotic, antiviral. So it’s not just a hundred times more effective. You now go into gaming theory because you get them in combination. In different ways you start to actually get hundreds of thousands of combinations of these things that present a resistance to these viruses and bacteria. You combine a few other ingredients and you actually have a combination that starts to go into... you know, they rival the number of stars in the universe because it goes up exponentially, which is why even though things like garlic have been around since the dawn of man, they still work against bacteria. Garlic at one time was used against anthrax. Those poor men, the poor farmer's protection for anthrax on their animals and it worked. In groups though. There were farmers feeding their animals in Korea kimchi which is high in garlic and it was stopping bird flu. It works
and it’s impossible for bacteria and viruses to build a resistance, because they’re so complicated.
Kevin: Now in terms...
Jon: That’s something to keep in mind for the next pandemic that comes around.
Kevin: Sure. Now in terms of the good bacteria, the good flora in your stomach, will garlic wipe that out, as well?
Jon: Garlic actually is pretty benign. There’s sort of a regression. There are certain things you don’t want to do. One for example, is goldenseal.
Kevin: Yeah.
Jon: That is one that kills bacteria, great for limited use, but know if you use it regularly it will kill your good bacteria.
Kevin: Got you.
Jon: Colloidal Silver is another one. It tends not to be kind to intestinal bacteria. So if you use it on a daily basis, that’s a problem. My recommendation for Colloidal Silver is use it for
external use and use it internally only for extreme situations.
Kevin: Sure. Great. That’s good information because I’ve always wondered that if it’s an antibiotic, wouldn’t it kill the bacteria. So that’s good.
Jon: Yeah, it depends. It does. Some are more benign than others. Garlic, though, is one
that’s actually quite benign to the beneficial bacteria.
Kevin: And if you were taking something like goldenseal or something like that, would you recommend taking a probiotic with it or is it not even worth it?
Jon: Well, I recommend... yeah if you’re using it daily, you should take your probiotic. Otherwise, after any round of antibiotics, anything you’re using that's killing bacteria, you want to use probiotics again.
Kevin: Yeah. Why don’t you just talk about the base line of health programs and just some of the things that you offer under that huge umbrella of just incredible information and products?
Jon: Yeah. If I saw something that somebody else was doing well, I wouldn’t duplicate it. But we created those products that I thought weren’t being done well enough or weren’t easily available.
Where people weren’t using consistently high enough quality herbs or whatever, so we offered detox formulas, supper food formulas, enzymes and a couple of formulas that are worth noting is we make what we’ve been told by people who’ve tested it is the strongest probiotic enzyme formula, which we haven’t talked about yet, but in one of the more important formulas you could use is a high proteases formula that you take without food to go into the blood stream.
Kevin: Okay.
Jon: There it will do things such as kill bacteria and viruses in the body because they all have protein coverings, if you will, that could be broken down. It also breaks up clots in the blood, repairs it, eats up scar tissue. They’re great things. Another formula we have uses certain combinations of herbs that slow down the digestion, the simulation of high glycemic carbohydrates, so it stops insulin spikes.

What is really interesting is how the medical profession is dealing with certain drug resistant infections – using a certain type of honey.
Dr. Molan reports on the antimicrobial properties of honey, at (http://www.worldwidewounds.com/2001...) , which has been rediscovered by the medical profession where conventional drugs are failing. Honey inhibits a range of bacteria and has anti-fungal properties.
Interestingly, not all honey is the same as Aristotle and Dioscorides pointed out thousands of years ago, and as discovered by Brenda Mossel, Bruce D'Arcy, Bob Wallace and Craig Davis of the Honey Research Unit at the University of Queensland. They have been researching the antimicrobial properties of Australian honey against Staphylococcus aureus (which is a bacteria resistant to Antibiotics ), and found that not all the honeys have this property.
All honeys will stop the growth of bacteria but the effectiveness of doing so is limited to at least 2 tested honeys. Manuka honey from the manuka bush in New Zealand (Leptospermum scoparium) and a honey from Australia, Leptospermum polygalifolium.
These two honeys have been tested for antibacterial activity and have a property found only in honey from the Leptospermum plants. This property is called the "unique manuka factor" (UMF) which produces a more potent antibacterial action.
This property also makes the honey more stable and active in all situations, unlike other honeys whose effectiveness is reduced under certain conditions.
The honey with UMF properties has been used successfully in wound dressings in New Zealand, and in a large hospital in Brisbane, Australia, where honey without UMF failed.
As a dressing, UMF honey reduces inflammation, swelling, and pain quickly; this healing occurs much faster in conditions where standard Antibiotic and antiseptic treatment was not working. Another benefit is that while antiseptics cause tissue damage, honey doesn't and additionally, honey promotes healing.
According to information released by the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato, there are many reports of Staphylococcus being completely inhibited by UMF honey.
In addition to antimicrobial properties, honey is also an antioxidant containing flavanoids with anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory properties. However, it is now clear that these properties may not exist in all honeys in all conditions, so we need to be choosy about our honey.
Research is needed to discover the properties of a wider variety of honeys and comparative studies, on the healing effectiveness of these honeys, are needed. Dr. Molan reports that from a theoretical point of view, there are good reasons to choose honey with a UMF factor of 10 or higher (a rating based on the level of antibacterial activity).
As well as wounds, UMF honey has been used in treating gastroenteritis, ulcers and colds, and has been promoted for use in digestional health.

Studies have found that vitamin D plays an important role in mediating immune function via a number of pathways, including enhancing the release of antimicrobial peptides in your skin.
New research now shows that low serum vitamin D levels increase the risk of nasal carriage of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). An estimated 2.7 million people in the U.S. are MRSA nasal carriers.

The Evidence for Vitamin D as a Primary Defense Against Infectious Disease
Over the past several months I’ve discussed the importance of vitamin D as a prophylactic remedy against infectious diseases such as colds and flu, which typically occur during the season when vitamin D levels in the general population are at their lowest.
At least five studies show an inverse association between lower respiratory .... That is, the higher your vitamin D level, the lower your risk of contracting colds, flu, and other respiratory tract infections.

To live in a world that's saturated with natural anti-viral medicine and then not even acknowledge it in the media is beyond bizarre. It's Twilight Zone-like. It's like we've been teleported to an alternate universe where anti-viral plants have disappeared... or at least everyone is pretending they have.
Where do you think Tamiflu comes from, by the way?
It's extracted from the Traditional Chinese Medicine herb called Star Anise. It's one of hundreds of different anti-viral herbs found in Chinese Medicine, not to even mention from South , North America, Australia, Africa and other regions.
I find it downright comedic that and the world's authorities extract their "champion" anti-viral drug Tamiflu from a Chinese Medicine herb, and then they go out of their way to announce to people that and natural remedies are useless against influenza. If that's the case then why are they using herbs to make their own medicine?
How many stories have you read that bother to tell you Tamiflu is made from the star anise herb that's been used for over 5,000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine? Virtually none. The powers that be don't want anybody to know they could actually grow their own medicine in a garden or a windowsill. If you can grow cilantro, you can grow medicine. If everybody figured that out, Big Pharma wouldn't be reaping the enormous profits it's making right now from Tamiflu sales, and the governments of the world wouldn't be able to scare and control people by promising to distribute Tamiflu (but only if you behave).
The Tamiflu scam is global
H1N1 influenza is not a hoax. But the way it's being reported by health authorities and the mainstream media certainly is. The scam in all this is what they leave out of the stories -- the fact that human beings live among a huge natural medicine chest of anti-viral drugs found in every city park, every forest, every swamp and every open field.
You cannot walk across any patch of natural land in America and NOT find anti-viral medicine. It's everywhere! It's in the weeds growing in the cracks in the sidewalks; it's in weeds on the side of the stream; and it's growing in the small patch of dirt left remaining in the median between highway lanes.
In the deserts of the American Southwest, you can't even drive to work without passing mile after mile of abundant anti-viral medicine grown by Mother Nature and just waiting for humans to wake up and be smart enough to recognize it.
I have a sobering prediction about H1N1 influenza (formerly "swine flu"): If it does become a global pandemic, many of those people who refuse to recognize the anti-viral medicine provided by Mother Nature will die. Their misplaced faith in Big Pharma will literally cost them their lives. In contrast, those who have the wisdom to get their medicine from Mother Nature will not only survive the pandemic, they'll thrive even as others around them are dying. It is those who embrace Mother Nature's powerful, synergistic and living medicines who will weather any pandemic storm, and they will emerge as the DNA holders of the future of human civilization.

How the masses are de-educated

Mainstream news reporting on H1N1 influenza (or any pandemic) isn't about educating people; it's about stripping away their knowledge. It's about eliminating complexity and simplifying all actions to a single, reactive element that just happens to be controlled by powerful corporations or bloated governments. It's about stripping away your options, eliminating free choice and framing it all in the false context of "caring for you."
This is how are ultimately stolen away from the People. They aren't always taken at gunpoint or by force. They're stolen through campaigns of seductive disinformation that teach people to surrender their own freedoms in exchange for the illusion of security or safety. In the middle of a pandemic outbreak, will people submit to Martial Law if it means they get some Tamiflu?
Of course they will. That's the whole point.
God forbid what might happen if people actually began to think for themselves, or grow their own medicine, or treat viral infections using plants rather than prescriptions. What might happen if people learned there are not simply one or two anti-viral medicines in the world, but thousands! (And they don't need a prescription.)
Imagine the economic chaos if people realized they could cure cancer, eliminate heart disease, reverse diabetes and beat influenza using herbs and plants they could grow themselves!
Such explosions of freedom simply cannot be allowed in our corporate-controlled world. Thus, the whole system reminds you to disown any knowledge of herbal medicine and worship only Tamiflu, your chemical savior. Do not question the authorities on these matters, my friends. (NaturalNews) Fluoride and triclosan are toxic ingredients that are contained in most commonly used toothpastes (http://www.NaturalNews.com/017804.html). If we want to avoid these products, what toothpastes help protect our teeth from cavities and are also healthy for us? Perhaps we should take a leaf out of the papyrus manuscripts of the Egyptians where the earliest reference to a toothpaste was found from the 4th century AD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toothpaste) . The toothpaste consisted of a mixture of salt, pepper, mint leaves and orris.
Orris is the root of a species of iris. Used in perfume, talc, gin, and ras el hanout (a middle eastern spice mixture), it is used to add flavour to toothpaste. Some non-toxic, natural toothpastes today use orris. These ingredients are preferable to the reputed use of human urine by the Romans, and the British use of pulverised brick and chalk, in toothpastes.
Bicarbonate of soda (BoS) or baking soda, the main raising agent in baking powder, has a history of use in cleaning teeth; it was used in tooth-powders around the 18th century. BoS is made from soda ash which is mined from Trona ore. BoS can also be produced synthetically by a process called the Solvay method but the chemicals used are pollutants that lead to waste disposal problems. So companies are tending toward basing the production of BoS on trona mining.
Towards the end of the 19th century, tooth-powders using BoS were mass produced; and then in 1982, Dr. William Sheffield introduced toothpaste in a collapsible tube. Sheffield’s company later became Colgate.
As BoS helps in regulating pH levels (levels of alkalinity and acidity) it has versatile uses in cleaning, deodorising, and cooking. It can also be used to whiten teeth.
A big factor in the health of our teeth is the health of our insides. Even the best toothpaste or zealous brushing will not protect against decay if our diet is high in refined foods, particularly Sugar and flour. Refined foods lead to higher acidic levels in our bodies which isn’t good for teeth or gums, nor for calcium absorption and healthy bones.
Research into the dental health of people from different cultures (typically primitive cultures isolated from modernisation) with good teeth, free from decay, found that their diet was much higher in vitamins and minerals - particularly calcium and vitamins A and D. Vitamins A and C are needed for the absorption of calcium, and calcium is an important element in our teeth. Sea vegetables are rich in calcium and most green plants have good amounts of chlorophyll, phosphorous, vitamins A and C, all of which are needed for calcium absorption.
What this means for teeth is that chlorophyll reportedly helps build enamel and prevents tooth decay, and vitamin C helps reduce plaque from building up.
According to Carla Oates, an expert on natural beauty, we also need to encourage healthy bacteria to live in our mouth to prevent harmful bacteria from getting at our teeth. Yogurts and lacto-fermented vegetables are good for this. Lacto-fermented vegetables are vegetables fermented in a salty brine and include the well known kimchee (Korean cabbage dish), pickles, and sauerkraut; but most vegetables can be fermented in this way, see (www.biolac.com) for recipes. Oates also suggests washing our mouth with a mixture of probiotic powder and water to prevent plaque build up.
Robert Gammal of Bio Compatible Dentistry says that to clean teeth we need to remove plaque from the surface which is easily done using a toothbrush. To assist in removing plaque with the brush, we can use ingredients such as BoS.
If you’ve been conditioned into using fluoride toothpastes with flavouring and BoS doesn’t do it for you, try combining BoS with a little spearmint or peppermint essential oil. Otherwise, try the many natural toothpastes on the market including Weleda and Tea Tree.
If a toothbrush is not there when you need one, buy some strawberries and rub them against your teeth and gums. You can actually swallow these.

Beyond Non-Toxic Toothpaste: Tips for Healthy Teeth
Osteoporosis and tooth decay are an ever increasing and costly problem in western industrialized nations. Both of these conditions have a similar root cause that lies with the modern processed food diet and over consumption of refined sugars. Refined sugars are especially dangerous since they greatly increase acidity of the blood leading to the leeching of calcium from the bones and teeth. This eventually leads to dental caries and osteoporosis.
People are consuming massive amounts of hidden sugars in packaged and processed foods, sauces, condiments, soda's, restaurants and countless other places that most would never consider and most fail to factor in when calculating their Sugar intake.
Take a look at this quote from Familyeducation.com website;
"Every year the typical American consumes between 120 and 150 pounds of refined sugar. That translates to over one-third of a pound a day and 600-plus calories of teeth-rotting, health-destroying sweetness, sort of a contradiction in terms."
Even if you don't eat sweets, the amount of refined Sugar you may be consuming would no doubt come as a surprise to many. Over two-thirds of the refined Sugar used in this country is used in the manufacturing of processed foods. Since most people spend upwards of 90% of their food dollars on processed foods, the majority of what people are eating is loaded with processed, nutrient dead sugar.
Many are also not aware of the many hidden sources of sugar and thus calories that is hidden in rather innocuous foods either such as condiments, sauces, syrups and the like. Did you know that a tablespoon of ketchup contains a full teaspoon of sugar? Other items such as breads, soups, cereals, cured meats, hot dogs, lunch meats, salad dressings, spaghetti sauce, crackers, mayonnaise, peanut butter, pickles, frozen pizza, canned fruits and vegetables, tomato juice, and a host of other products all contain sugar. This doesn't even take into account the obvious culprits like candies, cakes, ice cream, cookies, doughnuts, and soda pop."
Refined sugars can include unrefined sugars in their natural state and refined sugars that have had their minerals removed, leaving just the pure White Sugar in its place which is 99.9% pure sucrose. Others example of sugars include turbinado, sucrose, brown sugar, sucrose, maple sugar, maple syrup, molasses, fructose and high fructose corn syrup.
The great danger to the bones and teeth when consuming too much sugar occurs when the body leeches or steals calcium from the bones and teeth in order to neutralize the excess acid in the bloodstream. The body uses calcium because calcium is a base which neutralizes an acid. It's this constant calcium leeching from bones and teeth that eventually leads to osteoporosis and tooth decay.
When it comes to tooth decay brushing is only half the battle. Most decay occurs from the inside out, not the outside in. Brushing takes care of the buildup of germs and bacteria that lead to plague on the outside of the teeth, but it does little to prevent internal destruction to the tooth dentin on the inside. It's this increase in sugar consumption over the past several decades in modern industrialized nations that has caused the epidemic of osteoporosis and dental caries in recent decades. Did you know that drinking a just one 12oz can of soda contains so much sugar that if the body didn't take emergency action to neutralize excess acid, you would die within two minutes from acidosis!
Fluoride is not the answer to cavities and actually does little to prevent them. In fact it may actually make cavities worse. Those who try and convince people that fluoride prevents cavities often point to studies in the 50's that showed towns that fluoridated their water supplies showed a decrease in dental caries. But they fail to mention that nearly all towns in the US showed a decrease in dental caries during those same years, whether they fluoridated their water supply or not. This decrease was due to greater knowledge about the importance of brushing teeth, not because water supplies were being fluoridated.
This internal leeching is why when you go to the dentist you teeth may look fine on the outside but X-ray shows that you have a cavity or need a root canal because the leeching has been going on inside of the tooth for years.
One of the best ways to help prevent internal destruction of the teeth from acids that get under the gum line and through the pores of the teeth is with the use of a a Sea Salt water solution. Make it fairly strong which is approximately one level teaspoon of natural Sea Salt with minerals to four ounces of water give or take. Swish it around the mouth for 3-5 minutes once or twice a day. More if you currently have tooth pain as this will help to kill the germs and bacteria inside of the tooth that causing the pain.
Many other illnesses are also caused from excess bacteriological buildup in the teeth and under the gum line. This bacteria then gets into the bloodstream causing a general weakening of the immune system and since so many peoples systems are compromised due to the lack of nutrients, minerals, enzymes and living on fast, processed and energy dead foods today, these bacteria get into various organs and parts of the body and can cause real havoc and lead to serious disease, even heart disease and cancer. That is one reason that there is a known connection between heart disease and those with serious dental problems.
Another method similar to the Sea Salt swishing is something called "oil pulling" This is where you use a natural oil such as sesame seed, olive or neem seed oil and swish it around the mouth for 5-10 minutes or until the saliva dilutes it completely. The thicker oil then "pulls" the bacteria out from under the gum line and between the teeth greatly preventing and even helping to reverse decay. The sea salt will do the same things as I've had some teeth that were hurting but no longer do once I practiced these techniques.
Regular brushing and using one or both of these methods of removing bacteria from the teeth will go a long way to keeping your teeth as long as possible and even your entire life as nature truly intended when eating REAL foods that grow in from the ground, not found in a box, a bag or from a drive through window.
How to Reverse Tooth Decay
"Osteoporosis is a symptom of the aging process. As calcium in our body system leaches, our bones become brittle and weak. Taking only a calcium supplement cannot correct or stop this threatening and crippling disease because the body cannot assimilate and make use of the calcium without the presence of silica. Evidence suggests that, instead of affecting healing, supplemental mineral calcium, on the contrary, accelerates the leaching away of bone calcium and thus hastens the degenerative process of osteoporosis and similar diseases that affect the supportive and connective tissues in the human body.
For osteoporosis, silica can stop the pain and even restore the body's self repair process. Osteoporosis symptoms attack women primarily after menopause but the degenerative process starts much earlier in their younger days. More women are dying of fractures caused by osteoporosis than of cancer of the breast, cervix, and uterus combined.
In osteoporosis, thinning of the bones occurs due to insufficient production of the surrounding protein medium in which calcium salts first deposit. A lack of calcium in the bone matrix leads to enlargement of canals and spaces in the bones, giving the bones a porous, thinned appearance. The weakened bone becomes fragile and may be broken by a minor injury. The bones may even fracture from normal pressure or stress. For purposes of remineralization of damaged bones, it is recommended that a sufficient silica supplement be taken daily. Bones are made up of mainly phosphorus, magnesium and calcium but they also contain silica. Silica is responsible for the depositing of minerals into the bones, especially calcium. It speeds up the healing of fractures and also reduces scarring at the site of a fracture.
More and more research evidence shows that through a transmutation process, silica is turned into calcium when it is needed. That is why some scientists refer to silica as a precursor of calcium. Even when calcium is insufficient, the body can turn silica into calcium that the bones need."
To help reverse the tooth decay and bone loss that has occurred the horrid western sugar laden, nutrient EMPTY diets, start taking an herb known as "Horsetail" which contains a lot of silica. Bones are made up of mainly calcium, phosphorous and magnesium but they also contain silica, which is critical to bone re mineralization. Studies show that taking calcium supplements can actually INCREASE bone loss because without sufficient Silica the body can NOT make use of the extra calcium so it is useless and can even be dangerous.
Why have we NEVER heard this before....? Why doesn't your doctor or dentist tell you to take silica instead of calcium...simply because they don't WANT you to know about it. I started giving my 80 year mother silica (500mg a day for 4 weeks) and when she had her next bone density scan which was only 4 weeks after her starting the Silica, the doctors were shocked at her density increased by 30%. She had been on a steady decline while taking the useless "OSCAL" and other over the counter supplements.
In 1939, the Nobel Price winner for chemistry, Professor Adolf Butenant, proved that life cannot exist without Silica. According to his research in 1972, silica is an essential nutrient and must be supplied continuously from food sources. Silica plays an important role in many body functions and has a direct relationship to mineral absorption.
