I have been testing many theories and products throughout the past year and have found the answer to my endless cycle of peeling lips. I also go by the username Glen Christian, as I have posted in other similar forums. I ended up with exfolitive cheilitis because I used to bite my lips and over the course a few years left me with damaged lips that seemed incurable. I have been to the Dermatologist, Allergist, Internal Medicine, and Family Doctor. I ended up using many different types of steroids that worked for the first couple of days and then went downhill causing more issues later on. I've tried every store brand of lip balms (i.e. chapstick, carmex, blistex etc.), prescription lip balms (i.e. Dr. Dans Cortibalm), prescription creams and ointments (i.e. Nystatin). I have tried the candida diet, antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral methods of creams, pills and ointments. I have tried coconut oil, creams, and lotion method. I have tried the leave it alone method, FML doing that for 2 weeks, I did more damage than good. I've tried the garlic method, multivitamins, B-complex, Vitamin C, Fish oil, allergy medicine (i.e. Zyrtec, Claritin, Benadryl). I quit drinking any form of alcohol, tried liver cleanses, internal cleansing, blood cleansing... Then after all that, I saw a posting on here that I decided to try out. //www.curezone.org/blogs/fm.asp?i=2058376.
After seeing this post I decided to try the Aloe vera gel first, then the lotion, then the cream, and finally the gel capsule. I wanted to try the Aloe Vera leaf plant, but I was healed by then. I have concluded that the Aloe Vera Gel Capsule healed me. My lips no longer peel and I no longer use anything on them. What I did was pierce the gel capsule and applied the oil to my lips around 5 times daily for a few weeks. Healing was slow, but there was no peeling during that time. I went down to one application a day, to every few days, and then haven't used any when my lips turned pink. The raw red skin disappeared and my damn fordyce spots disappeared, even a medical doctor told me those were permanent, what an idiot. So there it is Aloe vera gel capsules.

That's interesting because I actually used aloe vera gel straight from the plant, however that shit would dry out hella quick so I had to reapply it like every 10-20 min so it got kind of annoying doing that everyday and I didn't really notice any improvement so I just stopped using it.

This is a reply to # 2,066,236It took about a month and a half for my damaged areas to fully heal, which I didn't mind since my lips stopped peeling gradually throughout the process. The ingredients listed are aloe vera, soy bean oil, glycerin, and gelatin. The other ingredients could have been why I only needed to apply every few hours. I didn't try the plant yet, but the capsules are awesome, for just five bucks too. I've spent thousands already and the solution was a plant gel capsules for five bucks wtf haha oh well.

What brand did you use? and I don't know if you live in the us or not but if you do, mind telling me where you purchased them?
I actually went to the store today and while I was there I thought about the aloe vera capsules but I could not find any! They had a whole bunch of weird shit too....I even saw horny goat weed lol lots of it too which is pretty odd. I was like they have horny goat weed but they don't sell aloe vera gel capsules smh lol

This is a reply to # 2,066,222Nah I hid from the camera, my EC was so bad that the skin just came off from brushing my teeth without even exfoliating. I'm sharing my experience because I hated it when people posted that they were cured and made one last post then fell off the grid.

This is a reply to # 2,066,292The fordyce spots formed an unequal line around the wounded area which was my inner lip. My fordyce spots started making some movement for the first time in years towards my inner lip and eventually disappeared. I only decreased my applications once the wound was gone. I applied less gradually so my lips could ween off being constantly moisturised. I used approx. one capsule a day and kept it in a small container like a contact lens case for reuse throughout the day. The small hole I pierced in it didn't leak that much and kept most of the liquid inside so i can reapply when my lips felt a little dry which was around three hours or so.

This is a reply to # 2,066,300I also tried aloe vera capsules before. All it did for me was to make my buildup come up feeling very stiff and dry. The protocol I am trying now seems to be working for me.
Which is:
1) Rinse with a saline solution. (I use Walgreen's thimerosal-free sterile formula)
2) Rinse the saline solution off with water.
3) Gently pat dry with a towel.
4) Allow the area to dry somewhat.
5) Apply a thin amount of a 1% hydrocortizone ointment. (I use cortizone-10 maximum strength water resistant formula)
6) Apply a thin amount of aquaphor or vaseline over the hydrocortizone ointment to create a strong barrier.
I do this when I wake up, after I eat, and before I go to bed. My lips began feeling much better by the second day of me doing this, and I have had EC for almost 19 years now come this June. I got EC from picking my lips with the wires of my braces when I was stressed the hell out back in high school. EC has been my hell on Earth.

You definitely should keep using what works for you. I've tried that combination method that you're currently using. I had no success with aquaphor and/or HC creams. I first applied the aloe vera capsule to raw skin before the body created it's own barrier, that may be the difference if you applied it to lips with a skin barrier already. Basically I knew if there was a skin barrier, it was eventually going to die and peel off. So I prevented a skin barrier from forming in the first place and let the lips heal under the aloe vera. So I had raw skin for like a week, weird but the new skin that grew in was healthy, strong, elastic, and similar to my outer skin layer which wasn't damaged. - Re: Aloe Vera Gel Capsules Evrythngfine

This is a reply to # 2,066,312Sirpreis, if you are referring to me then yes. I had really bad EC when I first got it. I even had a strong odor of decay that I could detect coming up from my lips. My lips were just as bad as Daniel Miller's lips, who is doing much better now, thank goodness.
My lips have gotten much better since when I first got EC but, I still get a lot of buildup. I have my own Picture Gallery that I put up on this site. I too have a lot of tiny fordyce spots around the edges of my lips. I can even see them inside of my upper lip when I push my upper lip out with my tongue.

This is a reply to # 2,066,330Yup I had exfoliative cheilitis similar to the pictures. At one point when I was using aquaphor, my peeling excelled to peeling twice a day. I used aquaphor for years and I can say that it took the pain and inflammation away, but didn't slow down my peeling cycle.

This is a reply to # 2,066,346What aloe vera does is prevent a callous like barrier from forming so there is really nothing to peel. I used the 25mg capsules. The skin will heal while the aloe vera provides it's own barrier.
